Netflix has just added must-see British action movie compared to The Matrix and Kill Bill
Just stumbled upon a cracking action flick titled “Polite Society” on Netflix, starring none other than Ritu Arya from “The Umbrella Academy”. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for some quality viewing!
In simple terms, the 2023 movie focuses around Ria Khan, a martial arts apprentice, portrayed by Priya Kansara. She strongly feels that it’s her duty to prevent her elder sister Lena (played by Arya) from marrying Salim (Akshay Khanna), who is due to wed in the near future.
With a strong belief that there’s more than meets the eye hidden behind the curtain, Ria seeks the assistance of her trusted friends in order to thwart the upcoming wedding by executing a daring and intricate plan, which they’re calling a ‘wedding heist’.
For those who didn’t catch it at the movies or want another look, the movie “Polite society” can now be streamed on Netflix in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.
After hitting the big screen, the movie received widespread praise from critics upon its premiere, resulting in a remarkable 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a critically-acclaimed film.
According to a review in BBC Culture, Polite Society bears similarities to films like The Matrix, Kill Bill, Get Out, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and numerous other timeless classics, but manages to maintain its unique identity rather than appearing as a copycat or disjointed.
The Empire magazine referred to “Polite Society” as a lively, prickly action-comedy that thrives on the charm of its principal actresses. On the other hand, Variety praised Nida Manzoor’s screenplay and the cast’s delivery, stating it will be a hilariously quotable future classic.
Prior to the theater debut of “Polite Society“, Digital Spy had a chat with Ritu Arya. The conversation revolved around themes like sibling bonds, reshaping the image of South Asian characters on screen, and other intriguing topics.
When inquired about her desired impact on viewers of “Polite Society“, the actress responded: “Pursue your passions fearlessly, disregarding others’ opinions. They can’t truly understand what’s best for you. Nobody can.
Go ahead and pursue what brings you joy, since you’ll be investing a significant amount of your time into it, regardless of what others are doing.
Polite Society is available to stream now on Netflix.
