Netflix finally renews “non-stop fun” comedy series with 100% Rotten Tomatoes score
Supporters of the Netflix show “Geek Girl” might find it unexpected that the platform has decided to continue the series, which was released a full eleven months ago.
The comedy featuring Emily Carey from “House of the Dragon” has been temporarily set aside, leading some to speculate that it might become another potential victim in the vast landscape of the streaming service giant.
Contrary to what one might anticipate, Netflix revealed today that their teen model series will be back for another season, with production slated to start this coming summer.
What to Read Next
Debuting in May 2024, this series is based on a 2013 young adult novel with the same title, penned by Holly Smale.
The narrative revolves around Harriet Manners, a high school student, who transforms from a nerd into a prominent fashion model after being discovered in the heart of London.
The main character faces a tough balancing act between their education and profession, all the while encountering numerous new experiences, such as finding themselves in their very first romantic relationship.
Previously, this show made a strong entrance with an impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating and now maintains a perfect 100% critic approval based on eight evaluations.
In a favorable review, The Guardian labeled the series as “full of joy” and “continuously entertaining,” while also praising it for staying true to Smale’s original novel.
In a realm of luxury fashion, the novel Geek Girl showcases designs by John Rocha and Simone Rocha, who are the father and sister to the show’s producer Zoë Rocha. Additionally, it highlights up-and-coming designers in the industry.
Celebrating the hotly-anticipated season 2 renewal, Zoë Rocha said she was “beyond excited”.
She expressed great enthusiasm as she announced that the series, Geek Girl, has been renewed for a second season by Netflix, according to Deadline.
As a game enthusiast, I must say, the overwhelming response from fans during season 1 was nothing short of astounding! Now, we’re chomping at the bit to breathe life into the upcoming chapter and share it with everyone.
I’m excited to collaborate with Holly and Emily once more, and with Boat Rocker joining us, we’re ready to grow and expand the enchanting Geek Girl universe even further. Let’s see what new fashion charm Harriet Manners will bring next!”
This version aims to maintain the original sentiment while simplifying some complexities, making it more accessible for a broader audience.
Apart from being Rocha, they are also serving as the creative director for RubyRock Productions, a company that collaborates with Boat Rocker in producing the series known as “Geek Girl”.
Geek Girl season 1 is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 is expected to release in 2026.
