Netflix fans slam “trash ending” of trending thriller branding it ‘worst TV show of 2025’
Squid Game season 3 spoilers follow.
Some viewers who are currently captivated by Netflix’s hit K-drama “Squid Game” as it tops the charts might refer to the anticipated third and final season, airing in 2025, as a disappointing contender for the ‘least satisfying TV show of 2025‘.
In the final chapter of the highly awaited thriller series, we find ourselves wrapping up the narrative arc of protagonist Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, who chose to re-enter the game’s arena in season two with the intent to dismantle them.

In the grand finale of the series, there were numerous surprising turns, such as an unsuspected victor and a shocking guest appearance by a famous figure. Yet, some audience members felt underwhelmed by the narrative’s progression and annoyed by the abundance of unresolved plot points.
One fan on Rotten Tomatoes expressed their disappointment by saying, “Perhaps season three was the most disappointing way they could have concluded the story of Gi-hun. I feel deeply saddened and completely shattered.
Another added: “It [was] so dumb… What a trash ending to such a great show.”
A number of viewers found issue with the last scene set in Los Angeles starring Cate Blanchett, as they perceived it hinting at a potential U.S.-based sequel.
Following their assessment that season three was pointless, a user expressed their opinion as such: “It was senseless, idiotic and lacked coherence… And it’s audacious of them to believe they can produce an American adaptation now.
“That’s where I bow out,” said another fan.
Although it received some unfavorable responses, it’s worth noting that the film has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 51%, indicating that many viewers found it satisfying as well.
Some fans expressed how thrilled they were by the conclusion.
One person expressed, “There seems to be a lot of dislike towards the finale of the show.” However, for me, it’s been an exceptional series that stands out among those I’ve watched in the past decade. Without a doubt, it had a terrific conclusion to an outstanding series.
One person admired the “season’s thoughtful storytelling,” giving credit to the show’s creator Hwang Dong-hyuk for his skill in weaving intense suspense with profound sadness.
Hwang has shown an inclination towards developing a spin-off, though perhaps not exactly as fans might anticipate.
During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, the creator of Squid Game discussed his plans to delve into the “time period spanning three years from Season One to Two, where Gi-hun searches for the recruiters.
He suggested, “Perhaps I’d like to know more about what the recruiters, Captain Park, officers, or mysterious men were engaged in during that time, not within the gaming arena, but rather, their lives beyond it.
