Netflix’s new paranormal series, *True Haunting*, is quickly becoming popular – it’s currently the second most-watched show on the platform, and for good reason! It’s genuinely scary.
This five-episode series, from the creator of popular horror franchises like *Saw*, *Insidious*, and *The Conjuring*, explores two true stories of hauntings. It shares the experiences of those who lived through them in a way that’s both captivating and disturbing.
‘Eerie Hall’ is a story set in the 1980s that follows college athlete Chris DiCesare (Wyatt Dorion) as he’s haunted by a terrifying presence in his dorm. The film then shifts to the Miller family, who unknowingly move into a creepy Victorian house with a hidden, unsettling past that soon begins to reveal itself.

1. Paul sees the presence
The first episode cleverly leaves you wondering if Chris is truly experiencing something paranormal, or if he’s just cracking under pressure. That question is answered when his roommate, Paul, sees it too. The moment—reminiscent of the terrifying imagery in *The Ring*—ends the episode on a chilling note.
2. Beth’s scream
It wasn’t long before Chris’ friends started to realize what he’d been going through. Beth, one of them, had a frightening experience of her own – she let out a scream so intense it stretched her mouth in a deeply unsettling way. It was truly disturbing!
3. What’s behind Linda’s back?
The brief glimpse of something touching Chris’ friend Linda in episode three was deeply unsettling. It wasn’t the visual effect itself that was scary, but the feeling of something invading her personal space – it was truly disturbing and left viewers shaken.
4. The shower curtain
Honestly, I don’t think I’ll get over seeing that shower curtain… the way it seemed to *become* Chris, like it was actually him, and then grabbing that poor athlete? It was terrifying! Definitely one of those moments that makes you jump out of your seat.
5. The grabby hand
In the ‘This House Murdered Me’ episodes, we really wanted to capture the terrifying scene where seven-year-old Shane (Hudson Oliver Ambrose) had his foot grabbed and pulled by an unseen hand while playing near the laundry chute. Even though we knew it was coming, the moment still felt shocking and scary.
6. The choke
April, the mother (played by Nicola Hadjis), was clearly terrified and in pain after seemingly being choked by an invisible force – and that moment definitely stood out.
7. The sheet pull
It was also heartbreaking to see Shane huddled under his blankets, scared of what might be lurking nearby. The fear really hit home when his dad playfully yanked the sheets away, reminding anyone who remembers it of their own childhood fear of monsters under the bed.
