Netflix drops bloody first trailer for sequel to its hit horror trilogy

I’m super-excited! Just got word that Netflix dropped the first trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen, the first flick in the chilling series since the 2021 trilogy. Can’t wait to dive back into the terror!

1988 finds us on the brink of the much-anticipated prom. The school’s most admired girls are eager to be crowned Prom Queen, but their concerns over appearance and number of votes pale in comparison to the uncertainties that lie just beyond the horizon…

People are going missing, and an axe-wielding figure in a red coat is committing bloody murders.

Since the prom is still happening, it raises a question: How could someone be chosen as Prom Queen when everyone attending is already deceased?

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited when I hear about the star-studded cast of our upcoming game. We’ve got Ariana Greenblatt from Barbie, Katherine Waterston who was in Alien: Covenant, Suzanna Son from Red Rocket, India Fowler from The Agency, Rebecca Ablack known for Ginny & Georgia, and Fina Strazza from Paper Towns joining our virtual world. It’s going to be an epic adventure!

Instead of launching a continuous trilogy, this will be a standalone film, but given that RL Stine, the author of Goosebumps, has written more Fear Street books, there are numerous opportunities for additional movies to be produced in the future.

Previously, Leigh Janiak, the director behind the initial trilogy, expressed her ambition to establish a terrifying film series that mirrors the scale and impact of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One topic we discussed prior to my employment was the possibility of developing a unique Marvel-style horror universe. In this setting, we could introduce a variety of slasher killers from numerous time periods.

Our primary mythology centers on the belief that the devil dwells in Shadyside. This foundation leaves ample space for additional elements. My aspiration is that people will enjoy it so much, we can expand upon it further.

Fear Street: Prom Queen will be released on Netflix on 23 May.
