Netflix Drops Addams Family Portrait with Mysterious New Character Ahead of Wednesday Season 2!

Fans of Netflix’s “ ” won’t have to endure much longer before they can reconnect with their beloved Addams Family character, as the series is slated for a comeback in August. The streaming platform has admitted that the anticipation for a new season has been quite excruciating since the initial season debuted in November 2022.

Currently, Netflix has unveiled a fresh promotional image for the series “Wednesday,” which showcases the entire Addams Family in a portrait-like manner. Interestingly, an unknown and enigmatic figure is also included in this image. The show “Wednesday” revolves around the character of the same name, originally created by Charles Addams, as it delves into Wednesday’s experiences at Nevermore Academy. Remarkably, “Wednesday” stands as Netflix’s most-watched series ever, having garnered a staggering 253.1 million views and accumulating a total of 1.7 billion hours viewed.

A “Torturous” Wait

Showcasing Jenna Ortega’s character in the series titled Wednesday, sporting her distinctive braids and accompanied by “Thing” on her shoulder, seated in a chair. The intriguing tagline reads, “The anticipation has been agonizing.” A fresh image from Netflix unveils the ensemble cast of executive producer/director Wednesday, featuring an enigmatic figure standing beside Lurch and Uncle Fester (played by Fred Armisen).

Additionally worth mentioning, a different actor has been cast for the part of Lurch in Season 2. Previously, George Burcea portrayed him briefly during Season 1. However, it’s now Joonas Suotamo who steps into the role, as seen in the sequel films. The identity of the new actor in the promotional image is yet to be disclosed, but he does share some similarities with Lurch. Furthermore, a fresh glimpse of Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump is provided in the latest photo.

Who Will Be Back for Season 2?

Besides Ortega continuing her role as Wednesday, several other actors are set to reappear in Season 2. Catherine Zeta-Jones is coming back as Morticia Addams, who plays Wednesday’s sophisticated mother. As per Netflix, Morticia will play a more significant part at Nevermore Academy as she’ll be involved in charitable work there. Luis Guzmán will return as Gomez Addams, Morticia’s husband and Wednesday’s father, while Isaac Ordonez will reprise his role as Pugsley Addams, Wednesday’s younger brother. At Nevermore, Pugsley is now a student, and viewers can anticipate seeing him gain some “striking new powers” that could bring him closer to his Uncle Fester (Armisen). Victor Dorobantu will reappear as Thing, Wednesday’s loyal companion and disembodied hand, when the series resumes.

Anthony Michael Hall Will Join Season 2

It’s been revealed that Tim Burton’s longtime collaborator, Johnny Depp, is set to join the cast for the second season of ‘Wednesday’. The details about Depp’s role in the series are currently under wraps, but we know he and Burton have a history together, having worked on the 1990 film ‘Edward Scissorhands’, where Depp portrayed the compassionate title character under Burton’s direction.

On August 6, Netflix will unveil the premier episode of the series titled “Wednesday”. Part 2 follows on September 3. The entirety of Season 1 can currently be streamed on Netflix.
