Netflix announces “powerhouse” Rachel Weisz series based on dark best-selling book
It’s been revealed that Netflix is launching a television show adapted from a popular novel, with Rachel Weisz confirmed to take the lead role and serve as one of its producers.
The massive streaming platform is planning to adapt Julia May Jonas’ book “Vladimir” into a restricted eight-episode series, with acclaimed actress Rachel Weisz from films like “The Mummy” and “Black Widow” set as the main director.
In simpler terms, Vladimir pursues a lady whose fascination deepens when she encounters an alluring new coworker. As days pass, the woman grows increasingly determined to make her imagined scenarios come true.
In a new development, “Dead to Me’s” Kate Robin is teaming up with Jonas to co-create the series. Meanwhile, “Bad Sisters'” Sharon Horgan will produce alongside Stacy Greenberg, Kira Carstensen, Jason Winer, and Jon Radler.
Horgan expressed that he was instantly captivated by Julia’s writing from the initial paragraph. He feels immensely fortunate and brimming with excitement as production company Merman collaborates with Small Dog to bring “Vladimir” to life.
Partnering with Netflix and securing Rachel for the project is an exhilarating experience, showcasing the exceptional quality of our scripts.
Netflix’s comedy series vice president Tracey Pakosta stated: “With Kate Robin’s skill at creating intricate, darkly comic stories centered on complex female characters, a script that delves into the nuances of attraction and moral dilemmas, and Rachel Weisz spearheading an impressive all-female cast, this project brings together a powerhouse team of exceptional women.
“We can’t wait for our fans to be as obsessed with Vladimir as we are.”
In a quick turn of events, Netflix has decided to continue the comedy series “Running Point” only a week following its debut. This series, jointly created by Mindy Kaling, features Kate Hudson in the role of a reformed partygoer who unexpectedly inherits control over her family’s professional basketball team.
At this moment, there’s no specific date set for Vladimir’s release, but it will only be accessible on Netflix. You can purchase the book from merchants like Amazon.
