Netflix Announces ‘LEGO One Piece’ Animated Special

Summary

  • Netflix expands its One Piece universe with a two-part LEGO animated special arriving in September 2026
  • The project is a collaboration between The LEGO Group, Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios, and Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons
  • Narrated by Usopp, the special serves as a comedic retelling of the Straw Hat crew’s journey through the East Blue and Grand Line

Netflix and LEGO have teamed up to create LEGO One Piece, a two-part animated special coming soon to the streaming service. This special acts as a fun connection between the end of the live-action series’ second season and what’s coming in season three, retelling the story with LEGO’s signature humor and visual style.

This special is a collaboration between Shueisha (a Japanese publisher), Tomorrow Studios, and Atomic Cartoons, who handle the animation. Tom Hyndman, known for his work on Harley Quinn, is the showrunner and writer. The story is told through Usopp, who acts as a somewhat unreliable storyteller. He’s recounting events from the first two seasons as tall tales to the newest member of the crew, Tony Tony Chopper. This approach lets the creators shorten big storylines from the East Blue and Grand Line sagas, making them suitable for all ages and packed with exciting, funny moments.

The partnership extends beyond the streaming series with the release of six new LEGO One Piece sets based on Season 2. These sets include a large 1,705-piece Garp’s Marine Battleship, a Drum Castle battle scene, and a unique Tony Tony Chopper build. This launch supports Netflix’s plan to make One Piece a major franchise across different formats, alongside a new anime series from WIT Studio and the confirmed storyline for season three of the live-action show: “The Battle of Alabasta.”

LEGO One Piece is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 29, 2026.
