Netflix 2025 Movie Preview: All the New Films Coming to Streaming
Today is a fantastic day for cinephiles who appreciate the comfort of home viewing. Netflix has revealed their lineup of films for the upcoming year, brimming with intriguing titles from renowned directors and actors. With such a wealth of content, you may find yourself happily ensconced without any need to step foot outside for entertainment.
As a film aficionado, I’m thrilled about some exciting cinematic treats coming our way! Highlights for me include Rian Johnson’s latest ‘Knives Out’ mystery, titled ‘Wake Up Dead Man’, and another hilarious installment from Adam Sandler – the second part of ‘Happy Gilmore’. Did you hear that Sandler is teaming up with George Clooney in a new project?
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are back with a gripping new thriller, and Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited take on the classic tale of ‘Frankenstein’ is finally hitting screens. Of course, there are numerous other captivating films scattered throughout the year as well!
Remember, what Netflix is advertising at the moment only represents a portion of their content for 2025. There are still many more titles in the pipeline that they haven’t fixed release dates or even names for yet. Kathryn Bigelow is working on a new movie destined for Netflix in 2025, but Netflix has yet to disclose any details about it other than the cast list (which includes Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson as the main actors).
Among the unveiled but yet-to-be-detailed titles are a documentary centered around The New Yorker magazine, a Charles Manson film by Errol Morris, and a movie directed by Edward Berger of Conclave fame, featuring Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton.
Excitedly speaking, although they’ve shared details about numerous upcoming films, some official images are still under wraps. Rest assured, I’ll add them as soon as they become available. With that said, let me share with you the exciting lineup of movies Netflix has planned for the year ahead!

10 Actors Who Adopted Animals From Movie And Sets
1. Sophie Turner, Game of Thrones
In HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones,” Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, shared a significant amount of screen time with the Northern Inuit dog named Zunni, who portrayed her character’s direwolf Lady. When an unfortunate event in the storyline forced Sansa to execute Lady due to Joffrey’s cruelty, it meant that Zunni’s role on the show came to an end. At first, Zunni was going to be rehomed, but Turner took action. “Growing up, I always desired a pet dog, but my parents never agreed,” Turner shared with the Coventry Telegraph in 2013. “We developed feelings for my character’s direwolf, Lady, on set.” Shortly after, the Turner family decided to adopt the dog.
2. Chris Evans, Gifted
In many aspects, Chris Evans’ character Steve Rogers resembles a devoted Golden Retriever in human form, which makes it unsurprising to discover that the Marvel actor has a soft spot for canines himself. During filming for the family drama “Gifted” in Georgia, Evans made a stop at a local animal shelter. Upon finding out if the dogs were available for adoption, he eagerly explored the rows of kennels. Recalling the experience to People magazine, Evans stated, “I was walking up and down the aisles and spotted this one dog who didn’t seem to belong there.” He promptly adopted him, naming him Dodger. These days, Evans’ beloved pooch Dodger plays an essential role in his life, often gracing Evans’ social media platforms with his presence.
3. Audrey Hepburn, Green Mansions
During the filming of ‘Green Mansions’, Audrey Hepburn formed an extraordinary bond with a fawn named Pippin or ‘Ip’. To earn the deer’s trust, Hepburn was told to bottle-feed Ip. She developed a deep affection for Ip, stating in an interview that she had fallen in love with her. Ip roamed freely at home and Hepburn took care of her using a baby bottle as Ip didn’t have teeth yet but loved to nibble on things. After filming ended, Hepburn was heartbroken to part ways with Ip. However, Mel Ferrer, Hepburn’s then-husband and the director of ‘Green Mansions’, returned Ip to her to help her cope with a miscarriage in 1959. Later on, Hepburn kept Ip as a pet and soon became pregnant herself.
The story of Audrey Hepburn’s bond with a fawn named Pippin, during the filming of ‘Green Mansions’, is quite special. To gain the deer’s trust, she was advised to bottle-feed Ip. She grew fond of Ip, admitting her love for the animal in an interview. At home, Ip was free to roam and Hepburn fed her using a baby bottle since Ip didn’t have teeth yet but enjoyed nibbling on various items. After the filming concluded, Hepburn was saddened to let go of Ip. Later, Mel Ferrer, who was both her husband and the director of ‘Green Mansions’, returned Ip to help Hepburn recover from a miscarriage in 1959. Eventually, Hepburn decided to keep Ip as a pet and soon became pregnant herself.)
4. Robert Redford, The Electric Horseman
In the film “The Electric Horseman,” as reported by Horse Nation, Robert Redford found an opportunity to showcase his deep-seated affection for horses. Redford himself explained, “This role provided me with a platform to reveal my personal bond with horses, yet the movie is also a poignant depiction of a vanishing Western lifestyle.” He added, “At its core, the narrative revolves around a man whose emotions are deeply connected to a horse.” Unsurprisingly, Redford performed his own horseback riding scenes in the film, with his equine partner being a 5-year-old thoroughbred named Let’s Merge. Once production concluded, Redford purchased the horse and kept him on his ranch in Utah for 18 years.
5. Sylvester Stallone, Rocky
Although Sylvester Stallone’s film character Rocky Balboa shared screen time with a dog named Butkus, it is his real-life turtle companions, Link and Cuff, who have stayed with the actor since the release of the 1976 movie. Since their debut in Rocky, these two turtles have continued to reside under Stallone’s care. In time, they’ve not only survived but thrived – even making a reappearance in Stallone’s 2018 film Creed II. In 2019, Stallone confirmed via an Instagram post that his turtles are still alive and in good health, despite their advanced age of approximately 44 years.
6. Elizabeth Taylor, National Velvet
1944 saw Elizabeth Taylor portray Velvet Brown, a spirited young girl enamored with horses, in the movie “National Velvet”. Velvet, after winning a horse competition, was brought to life by Taylor’s exceptional acting. Interestingly, Taylor had the liberty to choose the horse that would share screen space with her, and she opted for King Charles, an anxious thoroughbred she frequently rode at her country club. It is said that King Charles shared a unique connection with Taylor, but he tended to nip anyone else. Once filming was completed, MGM graciously presented Taylor with King Charles as a thoughtful thirteenth birthday present.
7. Tiffany Haddish, Keanu
In contrast to real-life cats and dogs, those featured in movies are usually portrayed by several animals. For instance, the adorable kitten ‘Keanu’ in Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s film was acted by seven different felines, all rescued from animal shelters. After the filming ended, Tiffany Haddish, one of the stars, decided to adopt one of these kitties. She renamed her Catatonic and introduced her to her followers on Facebook. However, Catatonic didn’t stay small for long. Today, she’s a grown cat who occasionally appears on Haddish’s Instagram.
8. Yvette Nicole Brown, Lady and the Tramp
In the live-action version of Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp,” many rescue dogs were featured, hoping they would find homes after the movie became popular. One lucky pup ended up with Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Aunt Sarah in the film. However, Brown shared that finding her new pet was a thorough process. “[The trainer] didn’t let people randomly pick a dog,” she explained to People. “She observed everyone throughout the entire show and at the end, she said, ‘I think I have your dog.’ When I asked who it was, she replied, ‘Harley is your dog.'” Indeed, Harley is Brown’s dog. She adores him! Now, Harley enjoys lots of cuddles with his owner, and even has his own Instagram account.
9. Viggo Mortensen, Lord of the Rings
Viggo Mortensen honored his experience playing Aragorn in “Lord of the Rings” by purchasing the horse he rode in the movie. As he explained to IGN in 2004, “Uraeus and I became quite close during filming; we developed a real bond.” Since Uraeus had joined the movie around the same time as Mortensen, they grew attached, and Mortensen decided to stay connected with him after filming. To keep Uraeus company, he also adopted another horse named Kenny. The two horses lived on a farm in New Zealand, where Mortensen often visited until their passing in December 2020.
10. David Dastmalchian, The Suicide Squad
In a surprising turn of events during the filming of “The Suicide Squad”, David Dastmalchian, famously known as Polka Dot Man, found an unexpected addition to his family. While on set in Panama, a stray cat meandered onto the scene and captured Dastmalchian’s heart. Intrigued, he brought the cat home, naming her Abner Bubblegum Polka Dot Cat (often referred to as Bubblegum). On Instagram, Dastmalchian shared heartwarming pictures of Bubblegum sporting a miniature Polka Dot Man costume. In his post’s caption, he expressed gratitude for her presence in their lives and acknowledged her crucial role in helping them navigate the pandemic. He also emphasized the importance of adopting pets instead of shopping for them, and the necessity of spaying/neutering your pets.
