NetEase Games’ Spirit Beast Adventure, a new charming monster taming MMO, kicks off Closed beta test (CBT) in China

NetEase Games has initiated a Closed Beta trial (CBT) of their upcoming mobile monster taming role-playing game, titled Spirit Beast Adventure, in China, which will run until May 10, 2025. This game was approved back on February 21 and is now open for reservation through platforms such as Wandoujia, 9game or the NetEase MuMu emulator.

The game titled Spirit Beast Adventure, previously called Codename Spirit Beast Chapter, is a multiplayer online game with a vertical turn-based system. It combines the thrill of taming mystical creatures, known as spirit beasts, with strategic combat. You’ll have the opportunity to capture more than 100 legendary spirit beasts, enhance their abilities through training, evolution via fusion and upgrades, and participate in tactical skirmishes.

Having cherished Chinese folklore since my childhood days, I’m eager to amass legendary creatures such as the Monkey King and the Nine-tailed Fox among others. Each creature will come equipped with up to four fundamental abilities initially, which can be enhanced to six upon leveling up, and also boast potent passive traits for optimized gameplay.

As a gamer, I get to pick from among five distinct factions: Demon King Village, Fangcun Mountain, Tiangong, Pansidian Cave, and Hell, each offering its own combative techniques. Yet, what truly piques my interest is the opportunity to craft traditional Chinese architecture with the aid of spirit beasts.

Based on the trailer’s content, it appears to hold significant potential. If they successfully incorporate these aspects into the main game – including its captivating traditional Chinese art style, streamlined design, multiple factions, strategic matchmaking, trading, team dungeons, and casual gaming elements that allow for idle play – this game could turn out to be exceptional.

The game titled Spirit Beast Adventure has started a closed beta testing on mobile devices within China, running until May 10, 2025.
