Fans were captivated by the pop star’s son after he showcased his impressive physique in a recent BBC drama.
You might recognize the actor – it’s been 14 years since he was last on TV, appearing in the Channel 4 show Hollyoaks.
Jay Duffy, whose father is Boyzone’s Keith Duffy, looks very different in his role on the upcoming BBC One show, The Walsh Sisters.
The actor stars as Luke, the hunky love interest of main character Rachel, who is a drug addict.
This six-episode series is based on the popular novel by Irish author Marian Keyes. It tells the story of the five Walsh sisters and follows them through different periods of their lives.
The story combines plotlines from various books, focusing particularly on Rachel’s time in rehab and her sister Anna coping with a loss.
Jay explained that viewers have a long-standing connection and strong affection for the characters in the show.
Everyone had a certain image of what Luke Skywalker should be like, and I was aware I didn’t physically fit that picture – I wouldn’t have been anyone’s first pick.
He described the person as having a rebellious, rock-and-roll style – think long black hair and leather pants. He admitted he particularly liked the idea of the leather pants and was eager to move forward.
The actor, who comes from a family with connections in the industry, also emphasized that this new version of the story is ‘more contemporary,’ and that benefited him personally.
Jay is the son of Keith, a 51-year-old Irish singer, and his wife, Lisa Smith. The couple have been married since 1998.
His love for acting started when he visited his father, Keith, on the set of the TV show Coronation Street. Keith played the popular bartender Ciaran McCarthy on the show from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2010 to 2011.
He quickly found work on the soap opera Hollyoaks, playing the character Declan Brady for around a year, from 2011 to December 2012.
Jay is quickly becoming known for his acting, just like his father, and has already appeared in several popular TV series, such as Playground, Derry Girls, and Northern Lights.
Pop star Keith recently revealed he’d like to turn the 90s group’s two-night farewell concerts into a full tour.
Boyzone is returning to London’s Emirates Stadium for two concerts in June! Due to high demand, they’ve added a second date after their first show quickly sold out.
Keith, age 51, is pausing his Boyzlife tour – a performing partnership with former Westlife member Brian McFadden – to perform again with his original bandmates.
He said it will all be over quickly, so we should be sure to enjoy the moment, according to The Sun.
