Nepo baby of music icon walks Fashion Week runway… after claiming nepotism ‘doesn’t help’ her career

During Copenhagen Fashion Week, Isadora Bjarkardottir Barney confidently walked down the runway on a Thursday.

In simpler terms, the 22-year-old fashion model (known to be the daughter of renowned Icelandic musician Bjork and American artist Matthew Barney) made her appearance as an opening act for Cecilie Bahnsen’s celebration of her 10th anniversary.

The actress, who has asserted that nepotism doesn’t aid her professional journey, adorned a semi-transparent white gown featuring ribbon straps and delicate floral embellishments at the front.

Further, she donned a pair of casual white sneakers and let her brown hair cascade in soft waves down to graze her shoulder tips.

The television figure was spotted sporting a style, seemingly in a deserted car park area.

Nearby fog generators contributed to the atmosphere as Isadora guided other models showcasing the Danish brand’s SS26 anniversary lineup.

Cecilie, the designer, shared insights about her collection and the fashion show in a statement, as reported by WWD, saying: “Showing in Copenhagen holds a unique charm.

This place holds a special significance as it marks the beginning of our journey. Many audience members have been with us right from the start, which lends an intimate and emotional atmosphere to the event.

Cecilie mentioned that for our event, we asked some special guests to don archival clothing. These attendees essentially became living elements within the show itself. Rather than merely observing, they were immersed in it. It’s a thoughtful gesture to express gratitude towards them,” (paraphrased response)

Isadora began her modeling journey by featuring in the jewelry campaign for Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter 2022 season.

As a die-hard fan, let me tell you, I was absolutely thrilled to see none other than Sydney Sweeney and Emily Ratajkowski gracing the screens alongside me in those advertisements! What an unforgettable experience it was to share the spotlight with these A-list stars.

In the same year, she took her first stride on the catwalk officially, as she also modeled for an Italian label during their Spring/Summer 2023 showcase at Paris Fashion Week.

Bjork and her former partner Matthew Barney were once an item in the ’90s, but they parted ways in 2013 after being together. Bjork continued to keep Isadora (presumably a pet or project), a shared possession from their relationship.

The singer of Human Behaviour is also a mother to her 39-year-old son Sindri, who was born to her and her former husband and guitarist, Þór Eldon.

As Isadora pursues her rising modeling career, she’s simultaneously chasing her love for acting – and has recently landed the leading role in the upcoming drama titled “The Mountain.

However, even with her high-profile lineage, Isadora (a student at Central Saint Martins in London, focusing on performance) mentions that her last name hasn’t provided the same level of advantage one may assume.

She expressed gratitude for having the advantage of receiving hands-on guidance from seasoned professionals in their respective areas of expertise.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, when I find myself brainstorming new ideas for a script or a project, there’s one place I always turn to – they are my go-to resource. Their wealth of advice and guidance is truly invaluable in helping me shape my thoughts into tangible concepts.

However, it’s important to note another form of advantage that might seem beneficial initially, but often doesn’t truly serve your interests – this is called nepotism.

In financial terms, it certainly provides a significant advancement, but when considering one’s own individual path, such as discovering my perspective on life, understanding my connection to the world, and expressing this as an artist for others to experience, it offers limited assistance.

Isadora, having spent her childhood in both New York and Reykjavik since her parents’ separation in 2013, mentioned that preconceived notions about her origins sometimes pose challenges.

In a conversation with the Sydney Morning Herald, she expressed that others often hold certain assumptions about her, stemming from their perceived knowledge of her family background.

I want to make sure I don’t come off as resentful, but let me say that it can be tough to separate truth from falsehood. However, with time and practice, you do become quite adept at it.

In The Mountain, Isadora portrays Anna, a 16-year-old musical prodigy struggling to maintain balance in her life after the unexpected loss of her mother. She finds herself grappling with grief, an unplanned pregnancy, and a tumultuous bond with her father as she navigates through these challenging circumstances.

The film marks her first time in a lead role, and she also contributed to the music.

The opportunity for the role presented itself accidentally, as a past colleague from a television show recalled that she had already acted before.

She shared, “I dropped by for a cup of coffee, and we worked on some scenes together. I also presented some music demos. After that, things seemed to take off naturally.” She added, “It felt surreal, almost like a dream. Honestly, it just sort of appeared out of the blue – it was quite unexpected and wild.

In the 2022 movie “The Northman,” she took on a minor character, portraying a Viking slave who sings, alongside acting greats like her mom Bjork, Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, and Anya Taylor-Joy.

In my own words, as a lifestyle and performance expert, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: Stepping into this new role has granted me an incredible opportunity to refine my skills as a performer. On set, I couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of growth as a collaborator. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience thus far.

Initially, I might have been somewhat reserved, giving subtle nods and agreeing to do as asked. However, over time, I began to occupy more room.

Isadora mentioned that she found the role appealing due to its intricate emotional depth, which she described as Anna walking a fine line on several cliffs edges.

As an ardent admirer, I’d say: “I find myself navigating a tapestry of firsts – the heart-wrenching journeys of grief and adulthood, the profound transformation into motherhood and the loss of my own mother, the evolving role of being a daughter, and the unveiling of my inner artist. It’s an immense, life-altering journey that’s just beginning.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the incredible journey of Isadora. While she graciously acknowledges the advantage of having parents with a rich creative background spanning decades, it’s essential to note that she regards them as her initial confidants for fresh ideas. Yet, when it comes to forging her own path, Isadora leaves no room for doubt – she is determined to make her mark in this world, all on her own.

‘There isn’t a career path that’s pre-written if you’re committed to a life in the arts,’ she said.

‘Sometimes, even when we’re taking the correct path, it might not seem so. Yet, it’s reassuring to know this isn’t uncommon.’
