Neon’s Arco Trailer Delivers A Dazzling Visual Spectacle Starring Will Ferrell And Mark Ruffalo That I Already Hope Gets Oscars Love

As the year’s movie releases wind down, awards season is starting to feel close! With the Academy Awards ceremony – hosted once again by Conan O’Brien – still months away next March, I’m already predicting that Neon’s Arco could be a contender for Best Animated Feature. The stunning trailer above, featuring Will Ferrell and Mark Ruffalo, gives you a taste of why.

Directed by Ugo Bienvenu (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Félix de Givry), Arco tells the story of a 10-year-old boy from a peaceful future who unexpectedly travels back in time to 2075. He finds a world facing danger and quickly befriends a girl named Iris and her robot companion, Mikki. Together, they set out on a mission to send Arco home and possibly save the Earth. The film was released in France by Diaphana Distribution and will be released in the United States by Neon.

If you’re watching Arco in the US, you’ll hear Romy Fay and Juliano Valdi voicing the characters Iris and Arco. The English cast also includes big names like Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell, Mark Ruffalo, America Ferrera, Andy Samberg, and Flea. Portman is also a producer on the show, alongside Ugo Bienvenu, Félix de Givry, and Sophie Mas. While official roles haven’t been announced, the trailer hints that Ruffalo plays Mikki, Ferrell voices a resident of 2075, and Samberg might be Arco’s father.

I’m eager to see the whole movie, Arco, before making a final judgment, but the visuals are already incredibly impressive and suggest it’s a strong contender for Oscar nominations. The scenes of Arco flying, leaving a rainbow trail, are especially beautiful and deserve recognition. It’s exciting to see early indications that the Academy might notice this artistry.

The film Arco debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, earning a Camera d’Or nomination and two awards at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. While it won’t be widely available until early 2026, Arco will have a limited release starting November 14th to qualify for awards. Neon and its collaborators are clearly hoping for an Oscar nomination, and we wish them success.

While a release date for Arco is still to come, it could be a contender for Best Animated Feature at the 98th Academy Awards, which will be broadcast on ABC and available on Hulu on March 15, 2026. Before the end of 2025, Neon plans to release several other films, including Sentimental Value, Keeper, Sirāt, The Secret Agent, and No Other Choice.
