Neil Young’s New Song Sparks Heated Clash with Elon Musk Over Clean Energy and Freedom

Music legend Neil Young has debuted a new song taking aim at Elon Musk.

At the Autism Speaks’ Light Up the Blues concert on a Saturday, the Canadian-American singer debuted his latest song, titled “Let’s Roll Again,” with his new band, Chrome Hearts, for the first time, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The process began when there was an appeal made to automobile companies such as Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, encouraging them to re-enter the competition and construct vehicles that wouldn’t endanger our children and emit minimal pollution, according to The Daily Beast.

The song also acknowledges China’s lead in clean vehicle production.

Speaking about China, it’s clear they are leading significantly, which is quite challenging for us to accept,” Young states, followed by a pointed critique of Elon Musk.

He sang as if expressing disapproval of Musk’s involvement with the Trump administration, ‘If you’re a supporter of fascism, consider buying a Tesla,’ he sang, emphasizing that its electric nature makes politics irrelevant.

The tune concludes with another pointed remark: “If you’re a Democrat, savor your liberty/ Savor the fruits of your choice, savor your liberty.

The 79-year-old musician-composer has consistently advocated for electric cars and has frequently expressed disapproval towards President Donald Trump.

2008 saw him initiate Linc Volt Technology, a venture aimed at encouraging the conversion of conventional gas vehicles into ones powered by clean energy sources, according to The Chronicle.

In the very same year, he showcased a 1959 Lincoln Continental that he modified to be powered by batteries and a biodiesel generator at the Dreamforce Conference in San Francisco.

Young later adapted a Mercedes-Benz and a Hummer to run on vegetable oil.

Apart from that, he’s been vocal about his criticism towards the president. In 2020, during the campaign trail, he openly criticized the president for using Rockin’ in the Free World, and even took legal action against Trump for utilizing the song.

Since then, Young has frequently criticized Trump, referring to him as “the worst president in history” and “a source of shame for my nation.

Lately, the Canadian-born singer has voiced worries that he might be denied re-entry after completing his European tour.

In simpler terms, ‘Young stated on his site recently that when he plays music in Europe and discusses Donald J. Trump, there’s a possibility he could be among those banned or imprisoned upon returning to America, where he might have to sleep on a cold cement floor with an aluminum blanket.’

He went on to say: “It’s becoming common now. Nations are issuing fresh guidelines for individuals entering America. You can find more information about it at the CANADA Desk. If I am denied entry after coming back from Europe, my USA tour will be cancelled, leaving all those who bought tickets unable to attend one of my concerts.

Indeed, dear readers, let me shed some light on this matter. Expressing criticism towards President Trump or his administration might potentially lead to a restriction in your ability to re-enter the United States. It’s always crucial to stay informed and mindful of such matters when sharing your thoughts, especially regarding political figures and administrations.

‘Should you be Canadian or hold dual citizenship like myself, let’s discover our shared status as we go along.’

Young characterized the situation as a threat to freedom of speech.

If expressing my viewpoint that Donald Trump was the poorest fit for our esteemed nation’s presidency could potentially bar me from returning, wouldn’t that question the essence of Freedom itself? I hold a deep affection for America, its people, its melodies, and its traditions. Let us not forget the Freedom of Speech!

The rocker continued: ‘With these recent moves by the US government, it appears that individuals expressing their own viewpoints openly might face consequences under a fictitious Trump law. If you supported Kamala Harris over Trump, it seems this could lead to imprisonment or detention, punishment for not demonstrating loyalty – is such cowardice truly acceptable?’

Is Trump unable to tolerate disagreement on his views? Keep in mind, every month consists of 30 days (for the sake of this metaphor).

He concluded: ‘One country, indivisible, with Liberty and Freedom for all. Remember that? I do.’

It seems that the hostility is mutual – Daryl Hannah, Young’s wife, alleged that during his initial term, Trump attempted to obstruct Young from obtaining U.S. citizenship.

Born in Toronto, Young arrived in the U.S. unofficially in 1966. He later obtained a green card in 1970.

In the year 2019, he was in the midst of acquiring citizenship, and expressed that the interviewers exhibited significant apprehension regarding his history of marijuana consumption.

Hannah condemned what Young had to go through in a recent interview with BBC.

1) ‘Hannah stated that they used every underhanded tactic imaginable to disrupt him, repeatedly calling him back for interviews. This is absurd, she explained, as he has resided in America, contributing through tax payments, since his twenties.’

Back in January 2020, I, a die-hard fan, was over the moon when Young officially became a U.S. citizen! To celebrate, I took to Instagram and shared a powerful image – myself saluting proudly alongside the stars and stripes of the American flag.

Additionally, he openly declared his political leanings by positioning himself before a banner stating, ‘Register to Vote – Democrats’.

For his part, Musk has not yet responded to Young’s new song.
