Neighbours Star Turns Paramedic: Fans Shocked by New Career After Shark Attack Segment
Viewers tuning into a 10 News report on Monday were surprised to see a familiar face.
During a news piece about a shark attack in Sydney where a lady sustained severe wounds, a New South Wales paramedic came onto the screen to talk about her injuries.
The person you’re referring to is Andrew Bibby, a man who once acted but chose a different route, opting for a more honorable profession instead.
Andrew famously starred on soap opera Neighbours as Lance Wilkinson between 1995 and 2001.
Over the years, the 44-year-old individual has made occasional comebacks in 2005, 2018, 2022, and 2023, and has also been featured in well-known television shows such as the Underbelly series.
These days, you’re more likely to find Andrew in the back of an ambulance attending to patients or at the site of an accident.
Previously, Andrew playfully referred to himself as ‘Ambo Lance’, and he attributes his theatrical past for preparing him well in his current profession that he has been part of for more than ten years.
In my experience, projecting an air of calm assurance, as if I’ve navigated similar situations countless times before, can surprisingly be quite beneficial, I’ve found. This was something I shared with the Daily Telegraph.
As an utterly devoted fan, let me assure you, I’ve got the inside scoop! You know, much like actors who have to think on their feet during performances, us paramedics are masters of improvisation. We adapt and respond to situations as they unfold, just like a well-rehearsed play!
Andrew often gets recognized at work, especially by English tourists who are fans of the TV show “Neighbours.
He mentioned that they’ll be quite thrilled when they figure out who I am, and on occasion, they might even search for the cameras, assuming it’s all just a trick or prank.
It seems reassuring when a patient remembers me and wants to chat about ‘Neighbours’ and my past profession, suggesting that they’re not critically ill and their condition might be improving.
After the cast and crew of Neighbours finally spoke up regarding the series’ future, following reports that the Australian soap opera was canceled for a second time.
Announcements were made on the show’s Facebook and Instagram pages, verifying that the popular Australian soap opera will no longer air on television starting from December 2025.

The team guaranteed fans that upcoming installments of the 40th anniversary season would still air on Amazon Prime Video and Channel Ten, featuring all the dramatic curveballs and captivating plots that viewers have grown to appreciate.
Jason Herbison, the show’s executive producer, took a moment to commemorate Neighbours for its lengthy run and the triumphs it has achieved since its debut.
For nearly four decades, Neighbours has been cherished and celebrated globally, and we are incredibly proud of its recent achievements,” he stated. “Over the past two years, it’s consistently ranked among the UK’s Top 10 programs, and for the first time ever, it received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024.
As the conclusion approaches, we express our gratitude and appreciation to Amazon MGM Studios for their significant contributions to ‘Neighbours’. They’ve been instrumental in sharing this cherished and timeless series with fans worldwide.
In closing his post, he stated, “We highly appreciate the passion our fans have for Neighbours, and we’re confident that there are many more tales waiting to be spun about the residents of Ramsay Street in the days to come.
Last month, the news broke that Neighbours will be canceled again, barely two years since its initial revival.
It appears that the popular Australian soap opera is set to halt its production this coming summer, as the production company, Fremantle, couldn’t reach an agreement on a fresh contract with Amazon.
In simple terms, the last episode of all time will be broadcast by the end of 2025, meaning that the residents of Ramsay Street must bid farewell once more, as they did previously.

According to a source, Amazon granted Fremantle a two-year trial period, but unfortunately, they failed to attract enough viewers.
‘It’s a really sad day especially for the cast and crew who work on the show in Melbourne.
‘This really is the end of Neighbours just as it’s celebrated it’s 40th birthday.’
Two years ago, the relationship between neighbors almost came to an end when Channel 5, one of its co-financiers for British audiences, decided to terminate their agreement.
