Neighbours Cast Shocked – Show AXED Again, They Were Out of Work!
The abrupt axing of Neighbours was a shock to the show’s cast who found out online.
On a Friday morning, it was announced that the streaming titan, Amazon, decided not to extend their production contract for the long-standing series.
Before the Neighbours cast and team assembled in Melbourne to learn about their work status, word had already circulated worldwide that the popular soap was getting cancelled again, as reported by the Herald Sun.
In reaction to the surprising news, an Amazon representative shared with TopMob: “Over the past 40 years, Neighbors has been a source of delight for its international audience, including the UK. The program has brought joy everywhere.
Achieving forty years in existence is truly remarkable, and we take great pride in contributing to the addition of new episodes on Freevee and Prime Video for our customers during the past two years. This brings us a total of more than 400 episodes.”

On Instagram and Facebook, the team shared an uplifting message, reassuring followers that more episodes from the 40th anniversary season will still air on Prime Video and Channel Ten. They’re promising all the exciting plot twists and turns that fans have grown to cherish.
In a jubilant tone, the show’s Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, acknowledged and applauded the numerous years of Neighbours and its impressive journey of success since its debut.
For forty years, people worldwide have adored and welcomed Neighbours,” he stated. “We take great pride in its recent success, such as being consistently ranked among the top ten shows in the UK and earning our first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024.
As we conclude this chapter, we extend our gratitude and appreciation to Amazon MGM Studios for their significant contributions to ‘Neighbours’. They’ve played a crucial role in reintroducing this cherished and beloved series to fans worldwide.
He concluded his post by stating: ‘We appreciate the passion our fans have for Neighbours, and we’re confident that there are still many tales waiting to be told about the residents of Ramsay Street in the time to come.’
It appears that the long-running series “Neighbours” is set to conclude its run in July, as the production company, Fremantle, could not reach an agreement on a fresh deal with Amazon for its continuation.
In late 2025, it’s the farewell as the last episodes make their appearance on our screens, marking another parting from Ramsay Street for viewers.
‘This really is the end of Neighbours just as it’s celebrated it’s 40th birthday.’
Long-term followers of the soap opera swiftly flocked to X to express their sorrow upon hearing the news that the show was being canceled for a second time.
‘Just heard that #Neighbours is being axed again. I am beyond gutted,’ wrote one fan.
‘Not sure I can go through this again,’ said one more.
A third person stated, “I can’t comprehend why Home and Away continues to thrive when they’ve canceled Neighbours not once, but twice. I’ve always thought that Home and Away was the better Australian soap.
After enduring a grueling 14 months on a personal level, I categorically refuse to let them attempt to strip me of something else! These are often the precious 20 minutes in my day when I find solace. Under no circumstances will I allow that! This was expressed by another individual.
Other viewers, too, expressed worry that they might miss out on the ‘ideal’ conclusion that the series had previously delivered.
In their message, they expressed that the previous show’s conclusion was absolutely unbeatable, and they won’t be able to match it this time around. However, they are incredibly pleased because they were granted an additional two years, during which many familiar faces will return.
