Mubi will begin streaming the highly acclaimed thriller, No Other Choice, on March 13th. The film, which has been called a “masterpiece,” will be available exclusively on Mubi in the UK and Ireland.
The film is directed by Park Chan-wook, who also directed Oldboy, and stars Lee Byung-hun – known for his role in Squid Game – as Yoo Man-su, a family man who is an expert in the paper industry.
After losing his job, he set his sights on a position at Moon Paper. Driven by ambition, he began eliminating anyone else who was also applying, resorting to murder to ensure he’d be the only candidate.

Laid off after a quarter-century with the same company, a devoted family man desperately seeks new employment. He comes up with a surprisingly effective – and ruthless – plan to get the job he wants: remove everyone else who’s applying.
Park collaborated on the screenplay with Lee Kyoung-mi, Don McKellar, and Jahye Lee, basing it on the American novel The Ax by Donald Westlake.
The film also stars a talented cast including Park Hee-soon (known for My Name), Lee Sung-min (The Spy Gone North), Yeom Hye-ran (The Glory), Cha Seung-won (Believer), and Yoo Yeon-seok (Mr. Sunshine).

After debuting at the Venice Film Festival in August, the film No Other Choice became available in cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland on January 23, 2026.
Critics are loving the film, giving it a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 227 reviews.
According to the Tribune News Service, no other director working today can blend dark humor, tragedy, and silliness as skillfully as he does in his tenth and most recent film.

According to Empire Magazine, the film is a stunning success, featuring ‘brutal executions, brilliantly executed.’ Director Park aims for No Other Choice to be his defining work, and the magazine suggests he’s achieved it, hoping it won’t be his last project.
According to The New York Times, No Other Choice is a harsh but darkly funny story that reflects the current moment, and it’s told with Park’s signature style.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, even a less-than-perfect film by Park Chan-wook is still better than many directors’ best efforts.
Mubi is a streaming service that costs £11.99 a month. New users can try it free for seven days, and it’s also an option for those who already subscribe to Prime Video at the same price.
No Other Choice will be available to stream on Mubi in the UK and Ireland from 13 March.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour 100-page magazine celebrating Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
