Near-perfect “powerful” thriller hailed as ‘one of 2025’s best movies’ lands new UK streaming home

Jafar Panahi’s highly praised thriller, It Was Just an Accident, is now available to stream in the UK. Many critics consider it one of the top films of 2025, making it a must-see.

The movie centers around a group of people who were once political prisoners and their encounter with a man they believe was responsible for their suffering. As painful memories resurface, they grapple with the question of whether to seek retribution.

I was so excited when this film finally hit theaters in December, and now I’m even happier it’s streaming! You can watch it on Mubi with a subscription – it’s about £11.99 a month. Or, if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can add Mubi as a channel for the same price, and they even have a free trial for a week, which is awesome!

If you don’t want to subscribe to Mubi, either by itself or through Prime Video, you can purchase the film directly from Prime Video instead. It costs £9.99, which is less expensive than a Mubi subscription.

I was so excited when It Was Just an Accident premiered at Cannes in May, and even more thrilled when it won the Palme d’Or! Everyone’s been raving about it – I’ve been checking Rotten Tomatoes, and it currently has a 98% approval rating based on over 210 reviews. It’s amazing!
