Near-perfect mystery thriller with “more twists than a cheap garden hose” is about to leave Netflix

The British mystery thriller The Capture, featuring Holliday Grainger and Ron Perlman, will be removed from Netflix in the next few weeks. Netflix has indicated it’s leaving soon, but hasn’t announced an exact date.

The show became available on Netflix on January 31st of last year, according to New on Netflix, so it’s likely it will be removed on that same date this year.

It’s a bit strange that you can’t watch The Capture on BBC iPlayer right now, even though it first aired on BBC One.

A third season is set to premiere on BBC in the spring, and recent photos have given fans a first look at both new and familiar faces joining the cast.

With new episodes on the way, many are wondering if the first two seasons will be available on iPlayer again. We don’t have confirmation on that, so if you use Netflix and want to catch up, you might want to prioritize adding this show to your watchlist.

The show explores how digital images and videos can be altered, uncovering hidden government secrets and the struggle to find the truth when facts seem unreliable.

Each season of the show highlights a new scandal, but a larger story unfolds throughout, centered around Grainger’s character.

Critics loved the first two seasons of the show, giving season 1 a 92% positive rating and season 2 a perfect 100%. Currently, the show has an overall positive rating of 96%, though that could change with the release of season 3.

Both The Telegraph and The Arts Desk gave the show positive reviews. The Telegraph described it as polished and well-written, highlighting the appealingly flawed main character played by Grainger. The Arts Desk noted that the show cleverly and captivatingly explored a hidden, unsettling world of constant digital monitoring.

According to the Herald Scotland, the show The Capture felt like a flashy mix of Spooks and The Undeclared War, but in a good way – they appreciated that it didn’t try to be overly serious.

In a review of the season 2 finale, The Times called it unbelievable and overly complicated, with a lot of unexpected turns. However, they also admitted it was wonderfully enjoyable.

The Capture can be streamed on Netflix for now.

The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
