Don’t miss the critically acclaimed horror film *Get Out* if you’re watching TV this weekend.
I’m super excited because a bunch of great stuff is airing soon! There’s this really well-reviewed sci-fi movie everyone’s been talking about, and they’re also showing a classic family drama from the 70s – the actress even went on to be in *Call the Midwife*, which is cool!
Digital Spy has compiled a list of five top movies showing this weekend – check them out below!
What to Read Next
The Railway Children
Based on E. Nesbit’s novel, *The Railway Children* tells the story of three children from a comfortable London family who move to Yorkshire after their father is unexpectedly arrested, suspected of spying. The story follows their attempts to discover what happened to him and why he disappeared.

I absolutely love this movie! It’s got a young Jenny Agutter – you might know her from *Call the Midwife* – and the wonderful Bernard Cribbins, who I always loved as a kid from *Doctor Who*. It’s a real classic, and critics seem to agree – it has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes! *The Guardian* even called it a fantastic family film, and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
Airing Saturday at 1pm on BBC Two. Available on BBC iPlayer afterwards.

The Creator
In this 2023 sci-fi film starring John David Washington, a former special forces operative is tasked with finding the creator of a powerful AI. This inventor has developed a weapon that could bring a decades-long war between humans and artificial intelligence to an end.
Gareth Edwards, the director and co-writer of *Rogue One*, helms *The Creator*, which features Gemma Chan (from *Eternals*), Ken Watanabe (*Tokyo Vice*), and Academy Award winner Allison Janney. *Vanity Fair* praised the film as “a true vision.”
Airing Saturday at 9pm on Channel 4.

Carrie (1976)
This well-known horror film from 1976, adapted from a Stephen King novel, tells the story of a quiet high school girl who develops the power to move things with her mind. She then uses this ability to get back at those who have bullied her.
Featuring acclaimed actors like Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Amy Irving, and Piper Laurie, the film *Carrie* is critically celebrated, boasting a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. *The New Yorker* described it as a powerfully unsettling and beautifully crafted thriller.
Airing Sunday at 10pm on BBC Two. Available on BBC iPlayer afterwards.

Get Out
For another scary movie experience, check out the modern classic *Get Out*, released in 2017. It follows a young Black man, played by Daniel Kaluuya, who discovers disturbing secrets when he visits his white girlfriend’s (Allison Williams) family for the weekend.
Jordan Peele’s film is a critical hit, boasting a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics describe it as a funny, scary, and thought-provoking horror-comedy that cleverly blends social commentary with thrilling entertainment.
Airing Sunday at 11.35pm on BBC Two. Available on BBC iPlayer afterwards.

The Guilty
I recently checked out the Danish thriller *The Guilty* – you might know it as that Jake Gyllenhaal movie from 2021. It’s a really tense story about a cop who works the emergency call lines. Things get crazy when he gets a call from a woman who’s been kidnapped, and he has to help launch a search to find her. It’s a wild ride!
This movie offers a fresh perspective by unfolding entirely within the walls of a call centre. It was highly praised when it came out in 2018, achieving a remarkable 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Get ready for a thrilling experience – *The Australian* described it as “a compelling and tense evening in the cinema.”
Airing Monday morning at 12.55am on Channel 4. Available on Channel 4 afterwards.
