Record-breaking animated movie Ne Zha 2 has finally confirmed a UK release date.
In its native China, where it was released in January, the sequel has raked in an astounding $2 billion (equivalent to approximately 14.5 billion Chinese yuan), making it the greatest money-maker among all animated films ever produced.
The announcement has been made that the movie is set for release in the United Kingdom and Ireland on the 21st of March, with previews starting as early as this coming Thursday, the 14th of March.
Last month, the movie had a restricted screening in the United States. It’s set to be rolled out in countries like Germany, Spain, and France soon.
The animated sequel, titled Ne Zha 2, is inspired by the Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi). It primarily revolves around Ne Zha and his companion Ao Bing, as they endeavor to restore their ravaged forms. Simultaneously, they unravel a plot that could ignite a conflict between righteousness and wickedness.

At present, it ranks as both the sixth highest-earning film of all time and the most profitable non-English film in history.

That’s precisely what Ne Zha 2 represents, according to Cedric Behrel, managing director of Trinity CineAsia (as reported by Variety).
This indicates a significant milestone in solidifying Trinity CineAsia’s position as a distributor operating across Europe.
Ne Zha 2 will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on March 21.
