NCIS: What did Knight choose in the season 22 premiere?

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of NCIS, I must say that this season premiere was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The suspense surrounding Katrina Law’s character, Knight, had been building all summer, and finally, we got some answers.

Throughout the summer, there were queries regarding Katrina Law possibly leaving NCIS. However, with the airing of the NCIS season 22 opener, all doubts have been clarified.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for the NCIS season 22 premiere

In the latest installment, we find ourselves six months following the conclusion of season 21. At that point, Knight and Palmer had parted ways, and Knight was content in sunny California with her REACT team. However, all that changed when an old face from her recent history reappeared.

Knight helped Parker find Torres in the NCIS season 22 premiere

During that particular incident, Torres found himself infiltrating a drug cartel as an undercover operative. When Torres mysteriously disappeared, Parker made the journey to California in search of him. Upon learning about Torres’ predicament, Knight joined forces with Parker, and together they set out to locate him.

In the realm of gaming, I found myself yearning for a familiar sanctuary – my old stomping grounds in Washington, D.C., that’s where my heart truly lies. Despite the thrills and excitement of my current gig, there was an emptiness that needed filling. The camaraderie at NCIS, those are the people I call family, my home away from home. And so, I found myself drawn back to it, eager to reconnect with my roots.

In simpler terms, Law clarified to Us Weekly that Knight has a strong affinity for thrill-seeking activities. Her element is being active in the field, apprehending wrongdoers. Consequently, the squad she previously departed from would be the ideal fit for you.

Now, she’s dedicated to her own journey. She no longer concerns herself with the opinions of men regarding her career choices. Instead, she’s pursuing what resonates with her, which is why she accepted the Deputy Director role by the finale of season 21.

This storyline is compelling because it illustrates the scenario where one can pursue a promotion, only to discover it doesn’t align with your preferences. It demonstrates that even though you might love and excel at a job, you may still find yourself feeling incomplete. The character in question chooses to step back from her position as it resonates more deeply with her heart. Changing your mind is not something to be ashamed of; it’s about finding what truly satisfies you.

Indeed, it’s now time for an uncomfortable encounter between Knight and Palmer. It’s not as simple as resuming their relationship as before; six months have passed, and there’s an unspoken issue that needs addressing – the proverbial elephant in the room.

NCIS airs Mondays at 9/8c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
