NCIS: Origins shares first look at young Gibbs and main cast
As a die-hard fan of the NCIS franchise who’s seen every episode more times than I care to admit, I must say that the announcement of NCIS: Origins has me beyond excited! The idea of delving deeper into the life and career of Leroy Jethro Gibbs is tantalizingly intriguing.
In a fascinating development, NCIS: Origins has given us an initial glimpse of a youthful version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell, along with the rest of the main cast as they embody their characters.
In the forthcoming series, serving as a precursor to the primary franchise’s storyline, we delve into the early stages of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Stowell’s character) profession. This takes place during his rigorous training period where he acquires essential skills and knowledge.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve been eagerly following the progress of our upcoming show. Over the last couple of months, production has been buzzing with activity, and finally, we’ve got our hands on some initial character images, thanks to TVLine’s latest update!
Apart from Stowell serving as the main character, Caleb Foote, Diany Rodriguez, Tyla Abercrumbie, Mariel Molino, and Kyle Schmid were also featured in the cast. They portrayed Bernard Randolf, Vera Strickland, Mary Jo Hayes, Cecilia Dominguez, and Mike Franks respectively.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the series is being brought to life by none other than Mark Harmon and his talented son, Sean. Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North have also been entrusted with co-showrunning duties. These creative minds have already issued an announcement, brimming with excitement about this upcoming project.
“They’re excited to embark on this new phase together with Mark and Sean Harmon,” they stated. “This development truly unfolds Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ full tale, a surprise even for devoted NCIS enthusiasts, as there are aspects yet to be unveiled.”
Mark, who played the character Gibbs in the primary NCIS series, is additionally expected to contribute creatively, as he’s set to provide narration for the show. This new role was hinted at by the President of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, who stated that viewers would undoubtedly be thrilled about it.
“Fans can anticipate Mark Harmon resuming his role at CBS, narrating the intricate and enigmatic past of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ early days as depicted in NCIS: Origins. This series will extend the established legacy of this character, while bringing back beloved characters from the past and introducing fresh faces,” she explained in a statement.
Currently, there’s no announced release date for the spin-off series NCIS: Origins. In the United States, you can catch NCIS on CBS network. Seasons 1 to 20 of NCIS are available to stream on Disney+ in the UK.
