NCIS: Origins may include younger versions of two other fan-favorite characters
As a die-hard NCIS fan who has followed the franchise through its highs and lows for over two decades, the announcement of NCIS: Origins sent me into a frenzy! The prospect of delving deeper into Gibbs’s backstory, particularly during his early days as an agent, is like striking gold for us devoted fans.
As a dedicated NCIS fan, hearing that we’re getting a prequel titled “NCIS: Origins” was simply thrilling! I can hardly wait to delve into the early days of Agent Gibbs, learning more about how he established all those iconic rules of his. This promises to be an intriguing look at the genesis of one of TV’s greatest characters.
In the “NCIS: Origins” spin-off, the backstory and construction distinguish it within the well-known franchise. Mark Harmon, who usually portrays Gibbs on screen, will instead provide the narrative voiceover for this prequel, which takes place during the 1990s.

According to TVLine’s report, two familiar characters from NCIS could make an appearance in the new spinoff. As shared by co-showrunners Gina Monreal and David North, they might introduce younger versions of Hetty Lange and Dwayne Pride. North expressed, “We don’t want to rule anything out.”
When I think back, Dwayne led our team in “NCIS: New Orleans,” while Hetty managed the Office of Special Projects over on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” These shows have given new life to beloved and recognized characters.
Austin Stowell takes on the role of Gibbs in the upcoming “NCIS: Origins,” while Kyle Schmid stars as Mike Franks. Joining them are Robert Taylor as Jackson and Diany Rodriguez portraying Vera. The series premieres on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024. In the interim, enjoy re-watching the original show on Paramount+.
