The season 23 premiere of *NCIS* left viewers wondering about the fate of Alden Parker, played by Gary Cole, but CBS has since confirmed he is still alive despite speculation he might be leaving the show. The previous season ended with a shocking twist: the murder of Parker’s father, Roman, by Carla Marino, a mob boss who wanted to send a message to Parker and the NCIS team. Season 23 began with Parker determined to get revenge, but NCIS director Leon Vance removed him from the case, fearing his personal connection would lead to excessive violence. Vance wanted to prevent the pursuit of Marino from escalating into a bloodbath.
Despite facing setbacks, Parker didn’t give up on his mission, and the rest of the team soon joined him after Vance took them off active duty. Unfortunately, Parker’s attempt to right things went wrong due to a critical error in the first episode of NCIS Season 23.
Is Gary Cole’s Parker Leaving NCIS Season 23?

Driven by a personal need for revenge and deep grief, Agent Parker acted impulsively and put himself and his team in danger. His quest for vengeance led them to hunt down a forger, Agent Ford, who was connected to Marino. Once they found Ford and confirmed that Carla Marino had used Parker’s father’s gun to kill him, Parker lost his temper with his team. They were able to de-escalate the situation and convince him to stay hidden while they searched for the ship, the Quentin, that Marino had used to flee.
Parker shocked his team by secretly being on the ship where Marino was headed. Fueled by a desire for revenge, he used his skills to find Marino and confront him directly. But Parker’s sister, Agent Harriet Parker, took over the operation when she discovered the ship was carrying weapons, drugs, and Carla Marino – a major threat to national security. Following orders from her admiral, Harriet made the decision to destroy the ship.
The season 23 premiere ended on a cliffhanger, with Harriet ordering an attack on a ship and Parker’s survival uncertain. However, the description for the second episode of the season confirms that Parker is alive and that his quest for revenge will be a major focus of the show’s first two episodes.
Driven by a need to avenge his father’s death, Parker is taking dangerous risks, and his sister is caught in a heartbreaking dilemma.
It’s smart not to kill off Parker yet, as the current season seems to be building stories around his character. This feels like the right approach, especially since last season spent a lot of time on Agent McGee’s storyline, which also had moments where it seemed like he might leave the show.
Does Parker Die on NCIS?

Even though Parker was revealed to be alive in NCIS Season 23, Episode 2, he’s still in danger. He’s facing a huge explosion – set by his own sister – and the continued threat from Carla Marino and her team.
It makes you wonder if Parker will survive the next episode, especially since his desire for revenge could lead to errors. However, because Harriet still sees Alden as family, she might send the NCIS team to help him with the danger posed by Marino.
It’s unlikely Parker will die in the next episode of *NCIS* Season 23. Killing him now would interrupt his developing storyline, which has recently taken a darker turn. Keeping him alive allows for character growth and the potential for him to become a stronger member of the NCIS team.
