NAVI, NiP, FaZe, and B8 to skyrocket in Budapest Major Stage 2: Advancement matches

Four teams finished the first round of matches without losing a single game, which wasn’t a surprise for a few of them. One upcoming match in the next stage promises to be incredibly exciting. It features a team considered the clear underdog facing a very difficult opponent.

Stage 2 of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2024 is a fantastic competition, now that the initial technical problems have been fixed and the teams competing are consistently strong.

FaZe versus Ninjas in Pyjamas: Epic Counter-Strike!

Because FaZe is well-known and NiP had a strong start, these two teams are expected to perform well in Stage 2 of the 2025 CS2 Budapest Major.

Great recovery from FaZe, at least so far

FaZe Clan’s performance in Stage 1 might have lasting consequences for how people view them in CS2 esports. Losing two best-of-one matches, including one against NiP, put them in danger of elimination early on. While they did manage to progress, their subsequent wins were against less established Brazilian teams, which isn’t very encouraging.

Okay, so FaZe really turned things around in Stage 2 of the Major! They’re looking good to move on to Round 3, and honestly, it feels like they’re starting to get back on track. I’m cautiously optimistic, though – let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

FaZe kicked off their tournament with a win against Passion UA, playing with a renewed focus on creative strategies. They then secured a second victory over Aurora, a team that had recently won the PGL Masters Bucharest tournament. This win against a strong Stage 2 contender is sure to please FaZe supporters.

Ninjas to keep momentum

Ninjas in Pyjamas had a fantastic season, largely thanks to a mix of promising young talent and the experienced leadership of Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer. Their strong showing in Budapest is a clear result of their hard work and preparation.

NiP moved on from the first stage of the competition with three wins and one loss. They started with a victory against NRG, but then suffered a defeat later on.

Ninjas in Pyjamas advanced to the second stage of the Budapest Major after defeating both Astralis and TYLOO. Their win against Astralis was a notable matchup between two well-known esports organizations, and they followed it up with a victory over TYLOO, a leading team from Asia.

In this exciting match from Stage 2, Round 3, a new, up-and-coming team will challenge a major esports organization in Counter-Strike. It’s a classic underdog story – can the young team pull off an upset?

NAVI: fresh from the boot camp, securing victories

Honestly, watching NAVI at IEM Chengdu 2025 left me a little worried about how they’ll do at the Major. Starting in Stage 2 wasn’t a great sign, showing they’re not quite at their peak right now. But it’s good to know their practice sessions weren’t for nothing – they clearly put in the work, even if the results weren’t ideal.

NAVI’s first match in Budapest was incredibly exciting! They dominated FlyQuest in the first half with a score of 12-0, and FlyQuest only managed to win a few rounds thanks to winning the pistol round – otherwise, it could have been a complete shutout.

The game against Imperial was a real challenge. NAVI struggled in several rounds, but they quickly learned from their errors, relying on their players’ exceptional skills to pull through. Their next opponents in Round 3 seem like a good matchup, giving NAVI a strong chance to advance past Stage 2 of the StarLadder Budapest Major.

A nice breakthrough with tough challenges ahead

The young team B8 is quickly gaining attention at the CS2 Majors, and they’re performing even stronger in Budapest than they did in Austin. However, advancing to the next stage of the Major remains a challenge, and facing a team like NAVI will be a valuable learning experience for them.

In the first stage, B8 was defeated by M80 in the initial round. However, they did manage to win against Legacy, a notable achievement given Legacy’s recent victory at the 2025 CS Asia Championships.

To boost themselves to the advancement zone of Stage 2, B8 won over Team Liquid and Fnatic.

The Budapest Major’s second stage includes two additional rounds, offering losing teams a chance to continue advancing in the tournament.

The winning teams advance directly to Stage 3, joining the top CS2 esports teams as they compete for the championship title.
