Audience members responded with a mix of emotions as Maura Higgins and Danny Jones shared an on-stage reunion during the National Television Awards, accepting an award together.

In simpler terms, the contestant from Love Island, who is 34 years old, along with the McFly vocalist, aged 39, jointly accepted the award for the Best Reality Competition, which was given to I’m A Celebrity.

In February, their passionate drunken kiss at the BRIT Awards afterparty, which took place at the O2 Arena, made headlines.

39-year-old singer from McFly was faced with troubles in his marriage to model Georgia following photos of him getting close to Maura at a Universal Records event. Reports also suggested that they extended their evening till 6 a.m., enjoying wine together at the Nobu Hotel bar.

Ever since the scandal, neither Danny nor Maura have participated in the same public gatherings. However, on Wednesday, circumstances necessitated that they appeared together on a shared stage following their joint victory on I’m A Celebrity.

When hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were unable to attend to hand out the award, during the 2024 season of I’m A Celebrity, the entire cast stepped onto the stage. Danny delivered the acceptance speech as the current champion, while Maura stood just a few feet away from him.

Spectators overflowed X with comments on the incident, many claiming it as one of the most cringe-worthy, uncomfortable moments of the evening.

I was secretly wishing Maura wouldn’t attend. Even though Danny and Georgia seem to have overcome their past, it has to be difficult for Georgia watching them perform together on stage.

This year, for the second consecutive time, Pete Wicks (who was once romantically involved with Maura) and his close friend Sam Thompson are co-hosting the red carpet arrivals event.

At the awards ceremony, the top television programs and talents admired by the British audience will receive recognition based on their votes.

This is a milestone year for the NTAs, which are celebrating their 30th anniversary.

The awards were initially set up in 1995 with the purpose of allowing the general public to express their opinions and recognize exceptional TV talent in a sphere that was previously dominated by industry experts.

The event is often referred to as a “tribute to the country’s favorite celebrities and programs.” People have been given the chance to cast their votes through mail, phone, or internet.

It’s predicted that Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will claim the TV Presenter award again, making it their 24th consecutive victory.

Despite their impressive 23-game winning streak last year, they admitted that there will eventually come a time when they won’t secure the victory.

In a compelling manner, IndieWire commended Owen Cooper’s portrayal of child killer Jamie Miller as equally intense, moving, terrifying, and sorrowful.

These programs – Code of Silence, Ludwig, MobLand, and Rivals – will compete with ours in the Best Drama category.

Since the UK has a reputation for numerous soap operas, the Best Serial Drama category promises to be one of the most intense contests during the evening.

Viewership for shows like Coronation Street and Emmerdale has surged to new highs since their transfer to ITVX in October.

This feature enabled viewers to catch up with their preferred shows at a convenient time, rather than being confined to watching them live on television. It provided an advantage for these shows over series like Casualty, EastEnders, and Hollyoaks that air live.
