Natalie Portman Reveals She Found Attending 2011 Oscars Pregnant and Mocked by Stars
At the 2011 Oscars, Natalie Portman found it challenging to attend while pregnant due to jokes about the size of her baby belly made by some celebrities.
43-year-old American actress, who is now a mother to a 13-year-old boy named Aleph, revealed the heartbreaking and inappropriate explanation behind her feelings during an episode of Nick Grimshaw & Angela Hartnett’s Dish from Waitrose podcast.
During the ceremony, people approached Natalie and commented that she seemed ready to give birth, even though she was only four months pregnant at the time.
The leading actress, who was honored with the Best Actress award that year for her portrayal in Black Swan, clarified: ‘I was so large, as people would say, “You’re about to burst”, but little did they know, I was four months pregnant.’
In a similar vein, when people said, “It seems like you’re due tomorrow! Let’s hope it’s not at the red carpet event”, I responded, “I still have five months left on my pregnancy timeline.

‘Um… yeah, so I was probably the only actress eating my way to the, to the Oscars’, she added.
With a chuckle, Natalie admitted that it was just as challenging for her to stay sober amidst all the revelers at the awards event, given everyone else was drinking.
She joked: “During the award season, I was already expecting, which meant abstaining from alcohol throughout all those events [laughs]. It wasn’t easy.
‘It’s a lot of stress. It’s a lot of attention. And I was sober while everyone else was not.’
Natalie shares her two children Aleph and Amalia, seven, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied, 47.
In 2009, the actress and the choreographer began dating after they first crossed paths on the filming set of “Black Swan”. They got engaged a year later, and tied the knot in 2012.
In February 2024, they officially ended their marriage following rumors published by Page Six, claiming that he was involved in an affair with a 25-year-old woman named Camille Étienne.
According to reports, it seems that Natalie doesn’t express shock over the fact that her former spouse, Benjamin, began a new relationship soon after their divorce.
A source shared how she is feeling after he was snapped kissing a mystery woman.
According to the source, the insider shared with Us Weekly: ‘Natalie expected Benjamin to find a new partner given how their romance concluded. She wishes him well and hopes he’s content now.’
A source close to the situation shared that Benjamin’s romantic affairs aren’t relevant to Natalie.
‘She’s super happy in her life right now and has been prioritizing family and friends.’
Another insider shared with Page Six, ‘Natalie isn’t overly concerned about who Benjamin is seeing. She has moved on for quite some time now.’
Natalie is set to star in the upcoming film Fountain of Youth opposite John Krasinski.

Asked about what thrills her now in life, Natalie replied, “Watching my children grow and become unique individuals is what I find most exhilarating.
Additionally, I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time socializing with my friends and their children, as well as mine. This has turned out to be quite enjoyable.
She also said her films are ‘usually not appropriate’ for her children.

The celebrity shared with Extra, “They haven’t watched it yet, and I’m eager to share it with them as it is a rare opportunity for me to present my films to my children due to their inappropriate nature, and also because it promises to be an entertaining experience.

The famous pair have been friends since their childhood days, and Natalie was thrilled to reconnect with her entertainment buddy. In her words, “John Krasinski feels like my brother, he’s simply amazing, hilarious, and an exceptional actor.
I find it delightful that the central focus of the movie is a brother-sister dynamic. It seems rather uncommon in an action-adventure genre, but fittingly, the Fountain of Youth being with someone who’s known you since childhood makes sense.
