Natalie Portman becomes frontrunner to play Sinead O’Connor in biopic about her life

Natalie Portman is reportedly the frontrunner to play Sinead O’Connor in a biopic about her life.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m deeply saddened to share that the iconic Irish Grammy-winning artist departed from us at the tender age of 56 in July 2023, following 18 heartrending months since the loss of her beloved son. Her untimely passing has left an indelible void in the world of music and beyond.

Prior to her unfortunate death, there were whispers that Sinead was engrossed in negotiations for a biographical movie based on her life events.

Currently, it’s being speculated that Natalie is among the potential candidates for the role, as a source informed The Sun, “Natalie is the actress that the filmmakers are keen on casting as Sinéad.

People find her remarkably similar to Sinead in appearance, yet they recognize that as an actress, she possesses the talent and force to truly embody Sinead’s role.

This past week, it was reported by Variety that the movie is being produced by the Irish company ie: entertainment, who were also involved in producing the O’Connor documentary.

Daily Mail has contacted Natalie Portman’s representative for comment.

The film was previously have said to have been based on her June 2021 autobiography Rememberings.

2023 sources report that the renowned artist was contemplating a high-profile ensemble for the crucial part, including actress Demi Moore from Hollywood.

In addition to Niamh Algar, fellow Irish actress Saoirse Ronan was considered for portraying a different phase of Sinead’s life as well.

According to the source, during the early stages of planning the movie, Sinead found the concept of a ‘triptych structure’ appealing. She imagined a film focusing on three different actresses as the main characters.

In a playful manner, they hinted at the threefold symbolic representation of the Catholic Church (father, son, and Holy Ghost) within this creative direction, while also incorporating a dash of satire into the storyline.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but delve into the intricate details of Sinead and Shane’s life journey together. The inquest into Shane’s unfortunate demise in November painted a vivid picture of a relationship that was marked by complexity and turbulence, yet profoundly close. Through thick and thin, they seemed to lean on each other, forming an almost inseparable bond that spanned the entirety of their shared lives.

On January 7, 2022, approximately less than a day since his disappearance, the remains of Shane O’Connor, aged 17, were discovered in a private location at the rear end of a residential estate located beyond Bray, County Wicklow. Prior to this, he had been absent from Tallaght University Hospital in Dublin.

The singer famously known for “Nothing Compares 2 U,” who tragically identified her son’s body to the Irish police, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes approximately 18 months later in London.

At the time of Shane’s death, he was due to be under supervised 24/7 one-to-one care.

During a hearing at the Dublin District Coroner’s Court, it was revealed that a teenage individual was taken to the emergency room by his mother on December 29, 2021, following a suspected drug overdose, which appeared to be an attempt at self-harm.

Sinead O’Connor’s father Sean described how his daughter and Shane were ‘very close.’

‘They loved each other madly,’ he observed.

At approximately the same period following her son’s demise, it was explained by Mr. O’Connor that the performer was dealing with mental health struggles too.

‘She was not in a position to do more than she did, which was a lot,’ he added.
