The popular Netflix series Stranger Things is back after a three-year hiatus, just in time for Thanksgiving. The final season, set once again in Hawkins, will be released in three parts throughout the 2025 holiday season.

Like past seasons, Stranger Things features a big group of actors, including Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder. This season, the story centers around the characters as they work to find and defeat the main villain, Vecna.

Alongside the main plot, several characters are dealing with personal struggles. Nancy Wheeler is once again torn between her former boyfriend, Steve, and her current boyfriend, Jonathan. This romantic situation has received a lot of different reactions from fans, and actress Natalia Dyer recently shared her thoughts on it.

Dyer described Nancy and Jonathan’s relationship as being under a lot of strain. In an interview with Variety, he explained that after being separated for a long period, their reunion is filled with “so much pressure and stress.”

The actress believes the show’s high-stakes, life-or-death scenarios add depth to the relationships between characters. She explained that facing such intense situations forces everyone to re-evaluate what’s truly important, how they spend their energy, and what they’re willing to fight for. Ultimately, she feels that these experiences lead to personal growth.

Because Nancy is a leader among the younger characters, her romantic life isn’t a major focus right now. As Dyer explains, Nancy is primarily focused on surviving and discovering who she is and what her future holds. While there’s some internal conflict, her priority is battling Vecna, navigating the dangerous explorations, and strategizing to defeat him.

Although she’s currently focused on her role as Nancy, the actress emphasized that the character’s future is also important. After a decade with the show, she feels deeply connected to the characters and their journey, and wants to see a satisfying conclusion. She doesn’t necessarily want a perfect ending, but one that feels realistic and earned after everything they’ve been through – an outcome that makes sense and feels deserved.
