NASCAR: Two drivers switching cars for Charlotte Roval race
As a gamer who has followed the thrilling world of NASCAR for years, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as we approach the Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The dynamic shift in drivers for Kaulig Racing is an intriguing twist that promises to add another layer of unpredictability to this already nail-biting race.
As a racer with Kaulig Racing in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, I’ve had the privilege to switch seats with four other drivers in the No. 16 Chevrolet. On top of that, there have been instances where we’ve added a third non-permanent entry to our lineup this season too.
Last Sunday afternoon, the No. 13 Chevroat was driven by A.J. Allmendinger, who is in the lead for most drives this year (10), at Talladega Superspeedway, which was fielded by Matt Kaulig’s team for the fourth time this season.
As a gamer, I’ve been steering the No. 13 Chevrolet for every race this season, while Shane van Gisbergen has been behind the wheel of the No. 16 Chevrolet for all four races he participated in, including the one we just raced last Sunday.
As one of Allmendinger’s fellow drivers on the Kaulig Racing team in the Xfinity Series, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the track with him for nine races this season, and guess who’s been leading the way? You got it – Allmendinger!
But the two drivers are set to switch cars at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.
In 2024, Allmendinger will be driving the chartered car for his 11th season at the wheel of the No. 16 Chevrolet, while van Gisbergen is slated to make his first start of the year as driver of Kaulig Racing’s third vehicle.
The upcoming 109-lap race, known as the Bank of America Roval 400, taking place on a 17-turn, 2.28-mile (3.669-kilometer) track in Concord, North Carolina, will mark Shane van Gisbergen’s first run with a non-chartered entry since he raced the No. 91 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing Team’s PROJECT91 initiative at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in August 2023.
60 years after no driver had won their first Cup Series race, Van Gisbergen is all set to race full-time next year for Justin Marks and Pitbull’s team. He will be driving the No. 88 Chevrolet, which they obtained by purchasing a third charter from Stewart-Haas Racing.
Instead, Allmendinger will be making a comeback to full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing with Kaulig Racing, reprising his position that he held previously before they reassigned him to the Xfinity Series full-time last year.
Don’t forget to catch NBC’s live coverage at 2:00 p.m. ET this coming Sunday, October 13, for the exciting race, the Bank of America Roval 400, held at Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. Last year, Allmendinger clinched victory while driving the No. 16 Chevrolet full-time. If you haven’t yet, sign up for a free trial of FuboTV right now to catch all the action!
