NASCAR: Two Cup Series drivers switching teams at Kansas

As a seasoned gamer who’s been following NASCAR for the better part of my life, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement as I see this driver swap between Justin Haley and Corey LaJoie. The NASCAR world is a bit like an ever-changing game of chess, where pieces are moved around to find the perfect balance for victory.

It’s been officially announced that Corey LaJoie wouldn’t return to drive the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, a position he had held for four years prior.

As a gaming enthusiast,

The position will be taken over by the driver who secured their sole victory at Daytona International Speedway in July 2019.

Justin Haley, who previously raced for Kaulig Racing in 2022 and 2023, is now moving on to drive Rick Ware Racing’s No. 7 Chevrolet, with the opportunity starting earlier than his initial 2025 schedule.

Haley, LaJoie to swap rides at Kansas

Haley will return to Spire Motorsports before the Hollywood Casino 400 race at Kansas Speedway on Sunday afternoon, while LaJoie will take over driving the No. 51 Ford in his place.

Despite Haley’s earlier commitment this summer to race with Rick Ware Racing next year, an unexpected in-season driver substitution has occurred.

During the initial season of Spire Motorsports in 2019, Haley participated in chosen races, and due to being relatively new, they were primarily seen as a team that trailed behind others. However, Haley’s victory also marked their very first top-27 finish.

Since then, they’ve accumulated eight more top-five results and twelve extra top-ten finishes. Although their overall performance is still deemed below par, they’ve started showing potential to excel on various track types, posing a significant threat in several racing events.

I’m thrilled to share that as of 2025, I’ve been officially selected by Spire Motorsports to pilot their No. 7 Chevrolet! This move solidifies their three-car lineup and I can hardly wait to hit the track with them. But there’s still some uncertainty regarding my future with Rick Ware Racing, as they haven’t confirmed yet whether or not I’ll be back behind the wheel of the No. 51 Ford next year. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

In the current season, LaJoie holds a slender lead over Haley in the standings, with both drivers occupying positions near the bottom (31st and 32nd respectively). LaJoie has achieved three top 10 finishes, among which is an impressive fourth-place finish at the Daytona 500. On the other hand, Haley has managed two top 10 finishes this year, both coming from races held at Darlington Raceway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, where he placed ninth on each occasion.

Tune into the Hollywood Casino 400 race, sponsored by ESPN BET, airing live on USA Network from Kansas Speedway at 3:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, September 29. Previously at Kansas in May, Haley came in 18th, while LaJoie placed 26th. To ensure you don’t miss any of the excitement, sign up for a free trial of FuboTV now!
