NASCAR team, driver returning for Brickyard 400 after missing Pocono

As a dedicated NASCAR fan with years of experience following the sport, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as MBM Motorsports is set to return to the track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. The team sat out the last race at Pocono Raceway due to their back-to-back appearances at Nashville Superspeedway and Chicago Street Course, but I’m relieved to hear that they’ll be back in action soon.

I was excited to follow MBM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series races at Nashville Superspeedway and Chicago Street Course over the past two weekends. However, last Sunday at Pocono Raceway, I unfortunately had to take a break from cheering them on. This marked their first consecutive appearances in points races since the end of the 2021 season.

But the Carl Long-owned team are set to return this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I’m an avid NASCAR fan with years of experience following the thrilling races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The anticipation leading up to Sunday afternoon’s 160-lap race is palpable, and as a seasoned enthusiast, I can’t help but be excited. This year, the No. 66 Ford joins two other non-charter cars on the entry list for this iconic event. The four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) oval in Speedway, Indiana, is set to host the first genuine Brickyard 400 since 2020. For three consecutive seasons, the Cup Series took on the track’s road course instead. As a true racing aficionado, I eagerly await the return of this classic event and the chance to witness the raw power and skill of these drivers on the historic oval.

Two other teams, Richard Childress Racing and Legacy Motor Club, will each enter two drivers in the competition.

MBM Motorsports, B.J. McLeod to return at Indy

Five races into the current motor sports season for MBM Motorsports, five distinct drivers have taken turns driving their No. 66 Ford. One of these five drivers is planning to make a comeback behind the wheel this upcoming weekend.

B.J. McLeod, who hadn’t raced for MBM Motorsports in the Cup Series before and hadn’t worked with them at all since participating in certain Xfinity Series races back in 2015, got behind the wheel of the No. 66 Ford for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

David Starr originally planned to race in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May after competing at Martinsville Speedway in April. However, a previous engagement forced McLeod to take his place instead. Later, Starr was supposed to join the team for the Iowa Speedway race in June. But unexpectedly, the entire team decided to withdraw from that event.

As a seasoned racing enthusiast who has followed NASCAR closely for decades, I can tell you that this year’s team roster is quite intriguing. Among the drivers making their mark with the team are Timmy Hill, Chad Finchum, and Josh Bilicki.

NBC will broadcast the Brickyard 400 live from Indianapolis Motor Speedway this coming Sunday, July 21, starting at 2:30 p.m. ET. (Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV now) and watch all the action unfold!
