NASCAR rumor shot down, team owner not leaving after 2024
As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for NASCAR and an eye for spotting fake news from miles away, I can confidently say that the rumors about Pitbull leaving Trackhouse Racing Team are as bogus as a rubber check.
It appears that the long summer break often sparks feelings of boredom among NASCAR fans, leading some to create fictitious stories, share them on Reddit, and gain enough traction with their outlandish rumors to be regarded as credible sources of information by several racing news sites.
As a dedicated admirer, I must share some intriguing speculation that’s been circulating: Some folks online seem to believe that by the close of the 2024 racing season, Pitbull may part ways with his Trackhouse Racing Team. However, it’s crucial to remember that not everything on the internet is factual. Luckily, in this instance, it appears to be just a rumor.
Towards the end of the 2020 racing season, Justin Marks unveiled Trackhouse Racing Team for the upcoming 2021 season, with Daniel Suarez as the driver for the No. 99 Chevrolet. As the new season drew near, it was disclosed that Pitbull would become a co-owner of this team.
After the 2021 racing season, our team took over the operations of Chip Ganassi Racing and decided to grow by fielding two vehicles. To maneuver the first car, we brought on board Ross Chastain, a former driver for Chip Ganassi Racing. He’ll be driving the No. 1 Chevrolet.
During certain events in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the team fielded an additional car named “PROJECT91.” This vehicle was created to offer established racers from around the world a chance to experience NASCAR’s premier competition.
Shane van Gisbergen, a driver from New Zealand, steered the Chevrolet No. 91 to victory in Chicago’s streets during July 2023, an achievement not seen since 1963 when a driver won on their Cup debut for the first time.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d say it’s clear that Trackhouse Racing Team is in a solid position, and just to quash the gossip, Mark has made it crystal that Pitbull isn’t planning on bidding farewell after his fourth year as co-owner of our team.
All details reported about my friend and collaborator, Pitbull, leaving Trackhouse are factually incorrect. The media spreading this falsehood should be aware of the harm they cause by propagating lies. We have exciting projects lined up for 2025 and beyond!

Pitbull, Trackhouse departure rumor shot down
In essence, Pitbull’s departure from the team wouldn’t be logical at this juncture because he is deeply involved with NASCAR as an avid fan and continues to play an active role within the racing organization. Although Marks holds the primary responsibility for managing the racing aspect of the team, Pitbull has a longstanding connection with NASCAR.
To clarify, Trackhouse Racing Team isn’t ailing or in poor condition. On the contrary, they find themselves in a thriving and robust state instead.
As Stewart-Haas Racing prepares to close shop at the end of 2024, teams like Trackhouse Racing Team are considering expansion possibilities. It’s probable that they might acquire one of the three charters up for grabs from Stewart-Haas Racing, with Gene Haas expressing his intention to keep one of the four for his new Haas Factory Team.
It’s speculated that Front Row Motorsports will obtain their third charter from Stewart-Haas Racing, given their recent expansion plans. Additionally, there are whispers that 23XI Racing might increase their number of teams from two to three as well.
In the Xfinity Series, Van Gisbergen, still under contract with Trackhouse Racing Team, is widely considered the top choice to team up with Suarez and Chastain at the joint venture of Marks and Pitbull’s team.
Trackhouse Racing Team is holding a strong position competitively speaking. Suarez has secured a spot in the playoffs for the second time over the past three seasons due to his win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February, and Chastain currently resides above the playoff cut line with only four races left in the regular season.
In his debut season with Trackhouse Racing Team in 2022, Chastain reached the final round of competition, the Championship 4. He ended up finishing as the runner-up in the overall standings, marking a successful campaign that yielded two victories.
Last year, although he didn’t make it past the final 12 contenders, he broke a record by winning the championship race in the contemporary playoff period (from 2014 onwards), even though he was no longer eligible for the championship title. He ended the season with two victories under his belt once more.
