NASCAR: Multiple broadcast booth changes confirmed for 2025
As a seasoned NASCAR fan with decades of racing under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I read about this new seven-year media rights deal. The familiar faces returning to the booths, the shift in partnerships, it’s all reminiscent of those pit stops where you swap tires and fuel, only to get back on the track with renewed energy.
In a new seven-year agreement valued at $7.7 billion, Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports will become additional broadcasters alongside Fox and NBC for the NASCAR Cup Series.
Starting from the 2025 sports season, this agreement will be activated, replacing the existing 10-year contract that ended in December 2024, which was exclusively held by Fox Sports and NBC Sports.
Amazon and TNT will manage five races during the middle part of the season. After Fox finishes its initial broadcast schedule, it will be Amazon’s turn. Later, TNT will handle the following races before NBC takes charge for the rest of the year.
A few months back, when it became official that Dale Earnhardt Jr. wouldn’t be at the NBC booth for his seventh straight season in 2024, he disclosed that he had agreed on contracts with both Amazon and TNT, starting as a driver analyst from 2025.
Now both partners have solidified the rest of their broadcast booths.
And both are set to look the same.
Following nearly two decades with Fox Sports, where he was the primary commentator across various NASCAR competitions, Adam Alexander will take on the role of lead announcer for both Amazon and TNT from the upcoming year onwards.
Steve Letarte, who previously served as a crew chief and worked with Earnhardt in the Cup Series, winning five races together, is expected to team up with him again. After starting at NBC Sports in 2015, he has been an analyst alongside Earnhardt from 2018 until 2023.
The appearance of the Fox Sports Cup Series commentary booth is anticipated to remain consistent with its 2024 look, given the inclusion of analyst Kevin Harvick. Following Jeff Gordon’s departure after 2021, Fox Sports rotated through various personalities to fill the third seat in the booth alongside lead announcer Mike Joy and analyst Clint Bowyer for a period spanning two years.
NBC Sports decided to hire Leigh Diffey ahead of the 2024 season finale, securing his continued service at the network. This was due to IndyCar shifting from NBC to Fox in 2025, and Diffey had been serving as IndyCar’s primary announcer since 2013.
Diffey temporarily took over from Rick Allen, who shifted to the Xfinity Series. He now works alongside analysts Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Letarte) and Jeff Burton. Despite Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s new role at Amazon and TNT, both are likely to resume their positions next year.
2025 NASCAR Cup Series season coverage by Fox commences with the Busch Light Clash exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium, set for February 2nd. The network’s first event of the regular season will be the 67th running of the Daytona 500, taking place on February 16th at Daytona International Speedway.
Amazon will kick off its broadcasting starting from the Coca-Cola 600 event at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25th, while TNT will start with the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 29th. The NBC coverage will commence with the race at Iowa Speedway on August 3rd.
As a dedicated motorsports fan, I’m excited to share that Fox’s upcoming 14 races will be broadcast across two channels – five on Fox and nine on Fox Sports 1. Similarly, NBC’s 14 races will be split between NBC (four) and USA Network (10). The announcers for each network, whether it’s Fox, Fox Sports 1, NBC, or USA Network, will remain consistent across their respective races. This promises a unified and cohesive experience for us fans, no matter where we tune in!
