NASCAR: Kyle Larson drops, 3 new favorites emerge after Miami
As a seasoned NASCAR enthusiast with years of thrilling races and unexpected turns under my belt, I can’t help but feel the tension building as we approach the final race before the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway. The unpredictability of this sport never ceases to amaze me, and the current standings are no exception.
Only one race remains in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs before the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway on the following Sunday, and two out of the four slots in the final showdown are yet to be secured.
Joey Logano from Team Penske secured a spot in the final four championship races during the initial round 8 event held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, while Tyler Reddick from 23XI Racing did the same by winning the race that took place on Sunday afternoon at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
In a tight competition, Christopher Bell from Joe Gibbs Racing is currently ahead in the points standings, with William Byon of Hendrick Motorsports close behind, just managing to stay above the threshold for the Championship 4.
At Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin from Joe Gibbs Racing, and Ryan Blaney of Team Penske are all playing catch-up in terms of position.
Following Reddick’s win, NASCAR championship betting markets shifted significantly.
Approaching Homestead-Miami, Larson held the highest probability of winning, followed closely by Logano. Logano had initially been given the least likely chance to win among the eight finalists, but he secured a victory in Las Vegas, ensuring his position. Larson was set at +260, while Logano was set at +300.
At DraftKings Sportsbook, there’s been a significant change. Larson, currently seven points short of the Championship 4 qualification threshold, has dropped to fourth place with odds of +600. Interestingly, Logano, Reddick, and Bell are now tied for the top spot, each having odds of +300.
Behind Larson, Byron is positioned with odds of approximately 7 to 1. The remaining drivers, among whom Hamlin seems least likely to be in a critical win situation at Martinsville, are considered underdogs. Hamlin is priced at roughly 20 to 1 (+2000), Blaney at around 28 to 1 (+2800), and Elliott at approximately 40 to 1 (+4000).
Odds and availability are always subject to change. Always bet responsibly.
