NASCAR: Kansas playoff race not being broadcast on NBC

As a long-time NASCAR enthusiast with decades of watching paint scuff and tires squeal under the hot race day sun, I eagerly anticipate this Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN BET at Kansas Speedway. With its rich history and nail-biting finishes, Kansas has always been a track that keeps me on the edge of my seat!

The Kansas Speedway will kick off the Round of 12 for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Hollywood Casino 400 sponsored by ESPN BET.

In May, the 1.5-mile oval track located in Kansas City, Kansas (which is approximately 2.414 kilometers) held a race that featured the closest finish ever recorded in the Cup Series. This particular track is one of seven venues included in the four-round, ten-race playoff schedule, and it also hosted a race during the regular season consisting of 26 events.

During the initial phase of the playoffs, comprising all three races, was aired live on USA Network – much like how we saw the regular season’s grand finale unfold at Darlington.

This upcoming race, spanning 267 laps, will mark the fifth consecutive event aired on the network owned by NBCUniversal, which has taken over as an alternative channel during NBC’s broadcast schedule since NBC Sports Network ceased operations at the end of last year.

Kansas race not being shown on NBC

As a die-hard gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! This is it – the 10th and ultimate race of the season on USA Network. The nail-biting playoffs are all set to reach their climax, with six straight races lined up on NBC itself, starting from next Sunday’s adrenaline-pumping race at Talladega Superspeedway. The grand finale? The championship decider at Phoenix Raceway in November! Let the games begin!

In both NBC and USA Network, the commentary setup stays consistent, featuring Leigh Diffey as the main host along with analysts Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte. Notably, Diffey has taken over from Rick Allen as the primary announcer in this role.

After the upcoming weekend, there won’t be another NASCAR Cup Series race on USA Network until the next season. The specific race for that time slot hasn’t been decided yet.

Due to the inclusion of Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports in the schedule as part of NASCAR’s new seven-year media rights contract, NBC’s number of broadcasted races will decrease from 10 to 4 next year. However, USA Network will continue to air 10 events, similar to this year.

NBC’s portion of the schedule is still set to wrap up the season and include the entire postseason.

This Sunday, September 29, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Hollywood Casino 400, sponsored by ESPN BET, will air live from Kansas Speedway on USA Network. Last year’s winner, Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing, will defend his title, but Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports claimed victory at the track in May. Both drivers are still contenders for the championship. Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV now to catch the opening race of the second round of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs!
