NASCAR: Final Stewart-Haas Racing driver change confirmed for 2025

As a long-time NASCAR enthusiast with decades of racing passion under my belt, I must say that this year’s shakeup is as thrilling as a high-speed chase around Daytona! The Stewart-Haas Racing closure has sent ripples through the paddock, but it seems our heroes have managed to navigate those turbulent waters with grace.

As I sat in front of my gaming setup a few months into the electrifying 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, the shocking news hit me hard: Stewart-Haas Racing was calling it quits at the end of the year. Four drivers, including myself, were suddenly left scrambling for new rides in 2025 and beyond. The thrill of racing had just taken a sharp turn into uncertainty.

It turns out that each of the four drivers has successfully secured a new position, and here’s an interesting fact: all of their new positions are still within the NASCAR Cup Series.

2025 found Ryan Preece as the only driver yet to secure a ride. However, it’s now confirmed that he will be part of RFK Racing moving forward.

RFK Racing has increased its fleet to three vehicles due to leasing a charter from Rick Ware Racing, a team they have a technical partnership with, and securing longtime JTG Daugherty Racing’s main sponsor Kroger. Next year, Preece will drive the No. 60 Ford for them.

Josh Berry, Chase Briscoe, and Noah Gragson had all already found new homes

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that Berry will be stepping into Harrison Burton’s shoes, taking over the wheel of the iconic No. 21 Ford at Wood Brothers Racing. Meanwhile, Burton is returning to the Xfinity Series to race for AM Racing. Exciting times ahead!

In an incredible turn of events, Briscoe was given the dream chance at Joe Gibbs Racing, taking over Martin Truex Jr.’s position as driver of the No. 19 Toyota. This shift occurred because Truex opted to step down from full-time racing.

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel the rush of adrenaline as I prepare to join Front Row Motorsports! They’ve just announced an expansion to three cars, snatching a team from Stewart-Haas Racing. However, the future remains unclear for us, as we’ve chosen not to sign NASCAR’s new charter agreement. The race track ahead is winding and uncertain, but I’m buckled in and ready to take on whatever comes next!

The team have not yet named a third driver, so while Gragson will not drive the No. 34 Ford, he is effectively replacing the Spire Motorsports-bound Michael McDowell.

Gene Haas plans to keep one of the four Stewart-Haas Racing licenses for his Haas Factory Team. Cole Custer is expected to drive this team following two seasons racing with them in the Xfinity Series. Meanwhile, Riley Herbst has been suggested as a potential third driver for 23XI Racing if they decide to expand their roster.

The upcoming 67th Daytona 500, happening in 2025, marks the start of the NASCAR Cup Series season on February 16, Sunday. Fox will be broadcasting live from Daytona International Speedway starting at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
