NASCAR fan-favorite sponsor returning for first Cup race since 2021

NASCAR fan-favorite sponsor returning for first Cup race since 2021

As a hardcore NASCAR gamer and collector of Panini trading cards, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the brand’s return to the Cup Series with Josh Berry and Stewart-Haas Racing in this weekend’s Brickyard 400. I’ve been following Panini’s involvement in NASCAR for years, and their partnership with SHR is long overdue.

For over four years, Panini America, the go-to place for NFL, NBA, NIL, WNBA, WWE, NASCAR, and collegiate sports trading cards, held a significant role in NASCAR through its primary sponsorship of Xfinity Series entries from 2019 to 2023. Yet, since 2021, the brand has been absent as the main sponsor for a Cup Series entry.

In simple terms, the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, scheduled for Sunday, will mark the first oval race there since 2020.

At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has a total distance of 2.5 miles and four turns, Josh Berry from Stewart-Haas Racing will participate in a 160-lap race. The primary sponsor for his No. 4 Ford during this event is represented by the brand.

At the upcoming race in 2024, Panini will make its initial primary car sponsorship appearance, showcasing a distinctive design that highlights Indiana Fever newcomer and WNBA standout Caitlin Clark.

The paint design revolves around “Raining 3s,” a new card from the Caitlin Clark Collection recently launched by Panini America. You can find this collection at retailers across the country and online on Panini America’s website.

Josh Berry excited to represent Panini

Over the past month or so, the collaboration between Panini and Stewart-Haas Racing has been successful. We discussed ways to make this union complete during our recent conversation. (Berry spoke of this to Beyond the Flag.)

“We’re thrilled to welcome Panini back to the Cup Series after their absence in 2021. Their prominent role in our sport, evident through the high demand for their trading cards, makes this collaboration even more exciting. With their new Caitlin Clark collection launching, it’s going to be an amazing experience.”

Berry is thrilled to be the face of a much-loved brand among NASCAR’s expanding audience.

“During the racing season, we drivers handle the task of signing autographs for our fans, and we encounter numerous cards from them throughout the year,” he explained further.

Each week, without fail, we come across and autograph those items, which are greatly beloved by our NASCAR fanbase. I sense a strong connection among us, as many fans eagerly collect these mementos. Thus, I believe this collaboration benefits us all significantly.

Before the forthcoming race weekend, Berry has had the opportunity to examine the Clark’s paint design personally.

At the racetrack workshop this week, I saw them making last-minute adjustments to the car, he mentioned. It truly looks impressive with its vibrant hues. The distinct colors pop beautifully on the race circuit. Moreover, having Caitlin adorned on the hood is bound to generate additional fan base given her recent accomplishments.

The event generated significant interest, its primary objective being to promote that brand and their collaboration with Caitlin. Here’s hoping for an excellent racing performance this weekend.

Berry has followed Clark’s basketball career going back to her college days as an Iowa Hawkeye.

He acknowledged contributing modestly during the final stages, particularly when the team was at the height of its popularity during the NCAA tournament. It’s astonishing, he added, how much impact she has had on that sport. Both she and others have garnered significant recognition, leading to more television coverage than before. I occasionally tune in and find it fascinating; it’s a positive development for sports enthusiasts as a whole.

Starting from the remaining part of the 2024 racing season, Panini will function as an associate partner for Stewart-Haas Racing. There’s a strong possibility that they will take over as the main sponsor for the team in at least one additional race beyond this weekend.

“Berry announced they will serve as our associate partner until the end of the year. We have another major competition ahead, but the details are still uncertain – date and plans included. Here’s hoping this collaboration will last.”

Listen to NBC at 2:37 p.m. Eastern Time on July 21, this coming Sunday, for a live transmission of the Brickyard 400 race from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. (Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV now) and catch all the excitement!
