NASCAR driver set for first Cup Series start in 207 races

As a devoted NASCAR enthusiast with years of racing lore etched into my memory, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia as Jeb Burton prepares to return to the NASCAR Cup Series after a hiatus spanning 306 races! It’s like hearing an old-time favorite tune that you haven’t heard in ages and suddenly find yourself humming along without realizing it.

Since April 2019, Jeb Burton hasn’t participated in a NASCAR Cup Series race. However, this is about to be different as he’s set to compete this upcoming weekend at Phoenix Raceway during the 2024 season finale.

206 races have taken place since Burton last participated in the Cup Series. This coming Sunday, he’ll be behind the wheel of the No. 50 Chevrolet for Team AmeriVet, competing in a 312-lap race on the Avondale, Arizona oval, which measures 1.022 miles or 1.645 kilometers across its four turns.

AmeriVet Racing (previously The Money Team Racing) made their comeback to racing since March 2023 last May at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600 event. Ty Dillon piloted the No. 50 Chevrolet for them, and he ended up in 36th position.

The team have not competed since.

Originally, they weren’t scheduled to race this weekend, but unexpectedly, they were added to the lineup for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race on Sunday. The initial list had 39 cars, but the No. 50 Chevrolet makes it the 40th car, filling the field to capacity for only the sixth time this season and the first time since early October at Talladega Superspeedway.

AmeriVet Securities holds a portion of the ownership rights for the team, which occurred prior to their comeback in 2024, during a time when they were still known as The Money Team Racing.

It’s appropriate that AmeriVet, being a broker-dealer financial services company owned by service-disabled veterans, held its initial event during Memorial Day Weekend, and it has another planned for Veterans Day Weekend.

Among the cars competing in this race, Chevrolet’s number 50 is one of four unchartered vehicles. The NY Racing Team will be driving the number 44 Chevrolet, J.J. Yeley at the helm. MBM Motorsports will field the number 66 Ford with Chad Finchum as driver. Lastly, the No. 84 Toyota will be driven by Jimmie Johnson under Legacy Motor Club.

This weekend, Burton, who races full-time in the Xfinity Series for Jordan Anderson Racing, will be participating in the Cup Series event thanks to a partnership with Luxedo Immersive Experiences.

Tune in to NBC for live broadcasting of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, starting 3:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, November 10th. Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV today and catch all the exciting moments!
