NASCAR: Daytona race not being broadcast on USA Network

As a hardcore NASCAR fan who has weathered countless races through the highs and lows of the sport, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I look forward to the Coke Zero Sugar 400 this Saturday night on NBC! After what feels like an eternity since the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it’s about time we get back to live racing action on the main network.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m all revved up! This season, I’m gearing up for my second visit to the iconic Daytona International Speedway with the NASCAR Cup Series. It’s unique because it’s one of only three tracks on the regular season schedule that we’ll return to more than once. Can’t wait to feel the adrenaline rush again!

Apart from these, there’s Richmond Raceway, which just concluded its second event, and Darlington Raceway, set for the regular season finale on the following Sunday evening.

The city of Richmond played host to the first race following a three-week hiatus caused by NBC’s broadcasting of the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, while Michigan International Speedway held a race that had been postponed due to rain on a day this past Monday. However, neither of these two races were televised by NBC.

The two events were aired on USA Network, a network that belongs to NBCUniversal. Since the closure of NBC Sports Network at the end of 2021, USA Network has been acting as an alternative channel during NBC’s broadcast schedule.

But this Saturday night’s race, the Coke Zero Sugar 400, will not be shown on USA Network.

The live broadcast of the 160-lap race will be airing on NBC, starting from the four-corner, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked oval at Daytona Beach, Florida, which is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. This marks the first race to be shown on the main NBC channel in over a month.

NBC hasn’t broadcast a live Cup Series race since the Brickyard 400 held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 21, prior to the start of the Olympic break.

As a long-time NASCAR fan, I eagerly anticipate this Saturday night’s race, marking the final event on NBC during the regular season. Having grown up watching races with my father and attending several events myself, I can’t wait to see how the season unfolds on its last leg. The excitement is amplified by the fact that next Sunday’s regular season finale at Darlington will be broadcast live on USA Network. It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that the end of the regular season is near, but I’m ready for the thrilling conclusion and the playoffs that follow!

As a die-hard racing enthusiast, I’m sad to say that there won’t be any more races on NBC for about another month. But, buckle up! The playoffs kick off on USA Network with four straight events. The last six races of the season are what we’ve been waiting for, starting with the race at Talladega Superspeedway on October 6. And guess what? These final races will be broadcast on NBC.

Listen to NBC at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, August 24 for the live telecast of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 from Daytona International Speedway. Sign up for a free FuboTV trial today to catch all the excitement!
