NASCAR Cup Series: No more races on NBC for over a month

As a long-time NASCAR enthusiast with countless Sunday afternoons spent glued to my TV for the roar of engines and the thrill of the race, I must say, it feels like a lifetime since NBC last graced our screens with the adrenaline-pumping action of the Cup Series. But fret not, fellow speed demons! The Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway is just around the corner on USA Network, and we’ll be able to catch every heart-stopping moment live this Sunday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

After a hiatus of nearly two months, I found myself back in front of the screen, ready to immerse myself in the adrenaline-pumping world of NASCAR once again. This time, it was the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 21st that NBC decided to air, and I couldn’t have been happier.

After a break for two weekends following the crown jewel event, the series resumed with consecutive races airing on USA Network – an alternative channel owned by NBCUniversal – during NBC’s broadcast schedule. This essentially took over where NBC Sports Network left off after it closed down at the end of 2021.

However, after broadcasting races at Richmond Raceway and Michigan International Speedway earlier, NBC resumed its coverage for the first time in more than a month last Saturday, showing the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway on air.

However, that was the last NASCAR Cup Series race on NBC for well over a month again.

This coming Sunday evening, the final event of the regular season will take place at Darlington Raceway, and it will be broadcast live on USA Network.

The USA Network will start the four-leg, ten-race playoffs with a series of four back-to-back races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Watkins Glen International, Bristol Motor Speedway, and Kansas Speedway.

The next race on NBC is not scheduled to take place until Sunday, October 6 at Talladega Superspeedway. However, after the race at Kansas on Sunday, September 29, there are no more races on USA Network this season.

The round of 12 playoff race at Talladega is set to lead off a stretch of six consecutive races on main NBC to wrap up the 2024 season. The champion is set to be crowned at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, November 10.

Tune into USA Network this coming Sunday, September 1st at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time for a live telecast of the Cook Out Southern 500 from Darlington Raceway. To catch this crucial race before the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs kick off, sign up now for a free trial of FuboTV!
