NASCAR Cup Series: Michigan race not being broadcast on NBC
As a die-hard NASCAR fan with years of trackside experiences under my belt, I must say, the shifting broadcast schedules have been quite a rollercoaster this season! After three weeks of Olympic fever on NBC, I was ready to get back to the roaring engines and heart-pounding action of the NASCAR Cup Series. But alas, it seems that the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway was destined for USA Network, not NBC.
After a three-week hiatus because of NBC’s broadcast of the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, the NASCAR Cup Series resumed competition last Sunday evening with the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway.
That race was shown live on USA Network, not NBC. USA Network replaced NBC Sports Network as the NBCUniversal-owned alternate channel during NBC’s portion of the broadcast schedule after NBC Sports Network shut down at the end of 2021.
As a dedicated gamer, I was bummed to find out that this coming Sunday’s thrilling FireKeepers Casino 400 race at Michigan International Speedway, the 24th event in the regular season lineup, won’t be broadcast live on NBC for me to catch all the action.
Michigan race not on NBC
The upcoming 200-lap car race, taking place on a four-cornered, 2.0-mile (3.219-kilometer) track in Brooklyn, Michigan, will air live on USA Network this Sunday.
The lineup for the start was determined based on the results from Saturday’s qualifying, which got canceled due to rain. You can check it out [here].
As a gamer, I’m pumped to know that NBC is airing the final 10 regular season races and all 10 playoff races this year! Out of these 10 regular season races, six have been planned for USA Network, whereas only four are set for NBC.
There are just three more races left in the regular season: the FireKeepers Casino 400, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway on August 24th, and the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on September 1st. Among these three events, only the Coke Zero Sugar 400 will be broadcast live on NBC.
For the 10-race playoffs spanning over four rounds in 2024, the initial four events will air live on USA Network, and the final six races will be broadcasted on NBC to conclude the championship.
Tune in to USA Network at 2:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, August 18 for the live broadcast of the FireKeepers Casino 400 from Michigan International Speedway. RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher is the reigning race winner. Start a free trial of FuboTV and don’t miss any of the action!
