NASCAR Cup Series: Major loss confirmed for NBC in 2025

As a seasoned NASCAR enthusiast with over two decades of racing passion under my belt, I must say that the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series is shaping up to be an exciting ride! The new media rights agreement, valued at $7.7 billion, introduces some fresh faces to the sport – Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports.

2024 NASCAR Cup Series season concludes, marking the end of a ten-year media deal between Fox and NBC which started in 2015.

Commencing from 2025, a fresh seven-year contract, estimated at $7.7 billion, will be initiated, welcoming two new broadcasters to the sport: Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports.

In the gaming world we’re navigating, I’m the player and this new deal is like splitting levels between two players in a cooperative game. Each of us, Fox and NBC, will be tasked with managing five stages (races) within our designated periods in the 2025 broadcast schedule. However, this arrangement has caused some setbacks for both of us, as we’ve each lost several races from our original lineups.

18 fox races are expected to decrease to 14, while NBC’s 20 races will shrink to 14. NBC’s schedule, consisting of 4 events on the main NBC network and 10 on USA Network, is still planned to conclude the regular season and cover the entirety of the four-round, 10-race playoffs.

But it most notably no longer includes the Chicago street race.

Since its inclusion in the racing schedule in 2023, the race along Chicago Street Course has been one of the most captivating races to watch on the calendar. Now, this race is slated for broadcast by TNT Sports as part of the debut five-race event series that takes place during the season.

2025’s full TNT Sports schedule, aligning with Amazon Prime’s portion, features all five races slated for the summer tournament. This event will also host competitions at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway, Dover Motor Speedway, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series season kicks off on February 2 with live broadcast of the Busch Light Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, followed by the main event, the 67th annual Daytona 500, two weeks later. Fox will be airing live coverage from Daytona International Speedway starting at 2:30 PM ET.
