NASCAR Cup Series driver at risk of missing the Daytona race?
As a dedicated NASCAR enthusiast with years of cheering from the grandstands under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement that 40 cars are ready to roar at Daytona this weekend! The thrill of the race, the adrenaline rush, and the unpredictable drama – it’s all there waiting for us in the Coke Zero Sugar 400.
2024 NASCAR Cup Series race entry lists are now fully subscribed for the fourth time this season.
Forty-two vehicles were initially registered for the season premiere Daytona 500 held at Daytona International Speedway in February. Similarly, there were forty racers signed up for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, and another forty for the second running of the race at the Chicago Street Course in July.
As a longtime NASCAR fan with memories of my dad and I sitting in our old pickup truck, tailgate down, watching races at Daytona Beach, I’m excited to see the Cup Series return this weekend for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. With 40 cars on the entry list, it’s going to be a fierce battle around that 2.5-mile high-banked oval. The penultimate race of the regular season is always a nail-biter, and I can hardly wait to see who will come out on top!
Field sizes are capped at 40 cars, so unlike back in February, there will not be two cars that fail to qualify.
Unlike for the Daytona 500, nobody is at risk of missing the Coke Zero Sugar 400 this weekend.
Besides the 36 permanent charter entries, there are also four cars not affiliated with charters on this weekend’s roster. This weekend, Richard Childress Racing has added a third entry, the No. 33 Chevrolet, for Austin Hill, and three additional teams who don’t participate full-time will each run one vehicle.
1) The NY Racing Team is planning to field car number 44 for Joey Gase, while Beard Motorsports will race with Parker Retzlaff in car number 62, and Live Fast Motorsports are preparing to have B.J. McLeod drive their car number 78 Chevrolet.
As a seasoned racing enthusiast with years of following the thrilling world of motorsports under my belt, I can’t help but marvel at the consistency and determination shown by Cody Ware and Shane van Gisbergen this year. It’s fascinating to witness these drivers take on new challenges as they climb behind the wheel of their respective vehicles time and time again.
Tune in for the live broadcast of the Coke Zero Sugar 400, airing from Daytona International Speedway on NBC at 7:00 p.m. ET this coming Saturday, August 24th. Last year’s victor is Chris Buescher, racing under RFK Racing. Start your free FuboTV trial today to catch all the action!
