NASCAR: Clash at Bowman Gray not being shown on Fox Sports 1

In 2025, the NASCAR Cup Series season will kick off with its traditional Cook Out Clash exhibition race. However, instead of taking place at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as it did for the past three years, this year’s event is planned to be held at Bowman Gray Stadium.

25-lap preliminary races took place at a 0.25-mile (0.402-kilometer) four-cornered track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Saturday evening. These events helped decide the participation of 20 out of the 23 drivers in the following night’s 200-lap finale.

Tonight, two additional drivers will be decided in the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier race. The position number 23 will be awarded to the highest-ranked driver from last year’s standings who hasn’t qualified yet. Unfortunately, the remaining 16 drivers won’t have an opportunity to compete.

However, differently from the heat races, neither the Last Chance Qualifier nor the 200-lap Cook Out Clash will air live on Fox Sports 1.

Instead, they are set to be shown live on Fox.

This year, Fox airs only 14 races instead of 18, a reduction due to Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports joining as new broadcast partners. The reduced schedule consists of 14 races, which include the Cook Out Clash exhibition race, the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway in May, and the initial 12 points races of the season.

After a reduction in the number of races that Fox broadcasts, most of its races will now air on Fox Sports 1, whereas previously, the majority had been shown directly on Fox. In all, only five races are scheduled to air on Fox this year, and one of them is tonight’s event, which marks the first Cup Series race at “the Madhouse” since 1971.

Fox will broadcast the initial three points races of the season held at Daytona International Speedway (Daytona 500), Atlanta Motor Speedway, and Circuit of the Americas, along with the 10th points race scheduled for Talladega Superspeedway in April.

For the upcoming nine races that Fox is broadcasting, each will air on Fox Sports 1, beginning with the event in March at Phoenix Raceway.
