NASCAR: Brickyard 400 not being broadcast on USA Network

As a long-time NASCAR fan with countless memories of watching the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I couldn’t be more thrilled that the iconic race is finally making its return this Sunday, July 21, with spectators in attendance. It’s been too long since we last experienced the excitement and energy of one of NASCAR’s crown jewel events being held at this historic venue.

IndyCar series’ Brickyard 400 will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time since 2020, marking a significant return. Likewise, after a two-year absence, spectators are welcome back to the track for this prestigious NASCAR Cup Series race, the Brickyard 400, which was last attended in 2019.

On Sunday afternoon, the significant 160-lap race taking place at the 4-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) oval in Speedway, Indiana will be broadcast on NBC instead of USA Network.

USA Network, an additional television channel during NBC’s broadcast timeframe, took over where NBC Sports Network left off after its closure at the end of 2021. So far, USA Network has shown three out of the five races that have taken place since the mid-season switch from Fox to NBC.

As a dedicated NASCAR fan, I’m excited to share that following the Brickyard 400, only four races remain in the 2024 regular season. Among these, just one race will be broadcast live – the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 24, to catch all the heart-pumping action!

As a longtime NASCAR fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming postseason format. Having attended several races live and watched countless hours of coverage on TV, I can appreciate the excitement and intensity that comes with the playoffs.

Starting next year, NASCAR’s fresh seven-year media contract will be active. This agreement includes five NASCAR races on Amazon Prime Video and another five on TNT Sports, split between Fox and NBC’s broadcast plans.

NBC will reduce its number of races covered from 20 to 14, but it will still air races throughout the year. In contrast, USA Network will continue to broadcast 10 races. As a result, NBC’s race coverage will decrease significantly, going from 10 races to just 4.

As a long-time Formula One fan, I’m excited about the upcoming changes to the race broadcast schedule. Having followed the sport for decades, I’ve grown accustomed to Fox’s extensive coverage, with races airing on both Fox and Fox Sports 1. However, as a busy professional, I often found it challenging to catch every race due to conflicting schedules or other commitments.

Beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, July 21, NBC will broadcast live from Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the Brickyard 400 takes place. Don’t miss this exciting NASCAR event at the iconic Indy oval! Sign up for a free trial of FuboTV and catch all the action unfold.
