NASCAR: Another charter switches teams for the 2025 season

As a die-hard NASCAR fan with decades of racing under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement as RFK Racing expands from two to three cars for the 2025 season! The rumors have been swirling for months, but now it’s official – Brad Keselowski, Chris Buescher, and the talented Ryan Preece will be racing the No. 6, No. 17, and the new No. 60 Ford, respectively.

It’s been speculated for quite some time now that RFK Racing might increase their team size from two to three cars for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. However, they have emphasized that this expansion would only happen if they manage to obtain a third charter.

Since Stewart-Haas Racing has secured all four of their charters upon deciding to disband after the year 2024, the primary course of action left for RFK Racing was to rent a charter from Rick Ware Racing, the team they share a technical partnership with.

I’m thrilled to confirm that we’re expanding our lineup! Starting from the 2025 season, RFK Racing will be fielding not just two, but three cars. What a fantastic journey ahead!

RFK Racing add third car, Ryan Preece

In the upcoming 2024 Cup Series, they will be operating the No. 60 Ford in conjunction with the No. 6 Ford and the No. 17 Ford. Previously, Ryan Preece, the last Stewart-Haas Racing driver without a confirmed ride for the 2024 season, has been assigned to drive that particular car.

As a gamer, I’m pumped to keep cruising behind the wheel of my trusty No. 6 Ford, just like ol’ Brad Keselowski. Meanwhile, Chris Buescher’s gonna stay steady with the No. 17 Ford too! Let’s hit those tracks together!

Moreover, it’s confirmed that long-term partner of JTG Daugherty Racing, Kroger, will transition to RFK Racing. This speculated shift has been a topic of discussion for quite some time and seems to facilitate a smoother growth process for the team.

Rick Ware Racing, formerly operating four full-time chartered entries, is preparing to field only one car permanently in the year 2025. Following their operation of two cars in 2024, they have yet to reveal any drivers who will fill this single entry slot.

Originally planned to stick with the team for another season, Justin Haley found himself shifting to Spire Motorsports midway through the season due to a driver swap. Corey LaJoie took over from Spire and drove the No. 51 Ford in Haley’s place, but his long-term plans within the team are yet to be determined.

In 2025, the other three teams planning expansion will accomplish this by obtaining charters from Stewart-Haas Racing; however, two of these teams have unclear futures due to legal disputes arising from their refusal to endorse the new charter contract.

1) Trackhouse Racing Team has included Shane van Gisbergen in an additional car, but the drivers for the extra vehicles at 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports are yet to be determined.

34 teams are listed as part of the league as we get closer to the 2025 season, but just 30 of these exclude the two specific ones mentioned earlier.

The upcoming 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season kicks off with the 67th annual Daytona 500, which takes place on February 16, a Sunday. Fox will air live broadcasts from Daytona International Speedway starting at 2:30 p.m., Eastern Time.
