NASCAR announces late Brickyard 400 broadcast change, moved off NBC

As a die-hard NASCAR fan, I’m excited to finally witness the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after a long hiatus. The race has been moved from NBC to USA Network due to political developments, but that doesn’t dampen my enthusiasm one bit.

After NBC News reported that Joe Biden was withdrawing from the 2024 presidential contest, the NASCAR Cup Series race originally scheduled for broadcast on NBC on Sunday has been shifted to USA Network instead.

On Sundays, the Brickyard 400 is scheduled to mark the initial race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) oval since the year 2020. The Cup Series held competitions on the track’s interior road course instead from 2021 to 2023.

As a gamer, I’m excitedly counting down to the upcoming 160-lap race, marking an impressive 30-year milestone for this crown jewel event. It’s about to be its 28th running, and I can hardly wait! Kevin Harvick has dominated the last two Brickyard 400s in 2019 and 2020, but that doesn’t mean Brad Keselowski’s 2018 victory is any less significant. In fact, as we gear up for this thrilling race, I’ll remind you all that it’s Brad who last tasted the sweet triumph of standing in the winner’s circle at the Brickyard.

Brickyard 400 moves from NBC to USA Network

As a passionate gamer following the thrilling world of NASCAR, I’ve noticed an intriguing twist: among the three past champions of the Brickyard 400 who are back in the game this season, Jimmie Johnson, a four-time victor, and Kyle Busch, a two-time champion, are now representing different teams on the track.

Keselowski claimed victory at the Brickyard 400 representing Team Penske, while Johnson secured all four of his wins through Hendrick Motorsports and currently races for Legacy Motor Club. Busch previously achieved success with Joe Gibbs Racing, bagging both of his victories, and now drives for Richard Childress Racing.

Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing will begin this weekend’s race as the front-runner, driving his No. 45 Toyota from the pole position.

A full starting lineup can be found here.

For the past two weeks, I’ve been looking forward to watching major motor races on NBC. But unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Last weekend, the IndyCar race at Iowa Speedway was unexpectedly moved from NBC to CNBC due to a late political development – a shooting at a rally for former President Donald Trump.

It remains to be seen if the Brickyard 400 will eventually be moved back to NBC.

UPDATE: The race has been moved back to NBC.
