NASCAR: 2025 Daytona 500 not being broadcast on Fox Sports 1

NASCAR: 2025 Daytona 500 not being broadcast on Fox Sports 1

As an avid NASCAR fan with over two decades of racing passion under my belt, I must say this new media rights deal is a game-changer that has both excited and left me scratching my head. On one hand, the addition of Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports to the mix brings fresh energy and possibilities to the table. However, the significant reduction in races on Fox and NBC each year from 2025 through 2031 is a bitter pill to swallow.

As I wrapped up another thrilling NASCAR season at the Phoenix Raceway last weekend, I couldn’t help but feel the excitement in the air. A fresh chapter was about to begin, as a brand-new media rights deal was set to kick off with the start of the 2025 season. It’s a new era for NASCAR racing, and I can hardly wait!

This seven-year agreement totals $7.7 billion and encompasses not just our existing broadcasters Fox and NBC, but also Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports as well.

From 2025 to 2031, Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports will air five races each, leaving Fox and NBC with fewer races in their broadcast schedules during that timeframe. Specifically, both networks will lose a substantial number of races annually from the beginning of the season (covered by Fox) to its end (covered by NBC).

The number of fox races (which include 16 points races) has decreased from 18 to 14, while NBC’s races have gone down from 20 to 14. However, it’s worth noting that a larger number of races will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 compared to Fox, and a larger number of races will air on USA Network compared to NBC.

But fortunately for everybody, the season-opening Daytona 500 is one of the five races that is still set to be shown on Fox.

The initial four races of the NASCAR season, including the pre-season Busch Light Clash exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium, will be aired on Fox. This group consists of the first two points races following the Daytona 500, which are scheduled to happen at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

In 2025, only the race at Talladega Superspeedway in late April will be broadcast on Fox. All other races from the beginning of the season until the end of Fox’s schedule, including six consecutive races between those at COTA and Talladega, will air on Fox Sports 1.

The final event on Fox’s broadcasting schedule for the foxes (racing teams or species, not specified) is set to be the All-Star Race happening at North Wilkesboro Speedway around mid-May. Following this, Amazon Prime Video will begin its coverage with the Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Regarding the broadcasting schedule, USA Network will continue to air ten events, while NBC has reduced from ten to four. This means that only nine out of the total 38 races scheduled for 2025 will be shown on either Fox or NBC’s main channels. On the other hand, Fox Sports 1 and USA are planned to collaborate and broadcast a total of nineteen events.

The lineups of announcers for each of the four broadcasters haven’t been finalized entirely, but it’s noteworthy that the commentators from Fox will also be handling the commentary for Fox Sports 1, and those from NBC will be doing the same for USA Network.

2025 NASCAR Cup Series regular season kick-off airs live this coming Sunday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Fox, directly from the prestigious Daytona International Speedway. Don’t forget to tune in for the thrilling 67th annual Daytona 500 race!
